Belfast IndoorBowls Indoor Bowls Stadium. Everyone welcome We have a great restaurant which is also open to the public.

We are an Indoor Bowls Club with 2 excellent green (13 rinks) We hold British isles Championships & matches here and also qualifiers for all the televised tournaments. If you want to access the club on a regular basis but not bowl then why not become a House member.

Looking at the 7pm rinks last night you would be forgiven for believing we had a couple of matches called off….nothing of the sort!! We had some naughty people not hand their card in to the desk 🤨

Please help the staff out by handing in your scorecard after your game, it causes admin issues if you don’t. Thank you everyone.

Of the cards that were left Denis McCluskey’s rink had a very good win and currently sit at the top.

In the intermediate league its was a very strong start by David Moore who had his granddaughter Amelia playing with him.

Amelia had a great game and will hopefully going to the under 18 open day that is being held at the Baker Stadium on the 27th of September. This young lady has great potential.

Again we had a full house across both greens.

The stadium thanks everyone for their terrific support it’s brilliant 🤩

We have a members birthday today. Many happy returns to Gerry Hennity have a great day Gerry 🎉

Of the five leagues played yesterday we have results for the first three. I will post the others when I have them.

The early birds who play in the 10am competition were out in force and it was great to see so many returning faces. Current title holder Fred Simpson didn’t have it all his own way but managed a useful win and there were three very close matches that ended within 2 shots.

This league looks to be particularly competitive this year.

At 11:30 there was a stand out performance by Alan Briggs rink his opponent might be disappointed with the result but these things happen and will no doubt see closer matches as the weeks roll on.

Our Aussie Pairs took place and it’s Liz Kinder leading the runners and riders followed by the mercurial Mr Martin Graham.

Game of the day took place between Seamus Gibney and Chris Burns.

Now neither Seamus or Chris are shy when it comes to driving at a head but the joy of Aussie pairs is that as you alternate between leading and skipping so you have to draw more which both players can do with aplomb. Seamus sneaked the win, congratulations but no doubt Chris will be amongst the title contenders when we get to the seasons end.

This is a celebration and information post. And I’m told I can’t multi task 😉

You may have noticed that our wonderful Cliodhna is away this week, well that’s because she and our Competition Secretary husband Chris are currently having a well deserved week away in Rome celebrating their Wedding Anniversary. Have a wonderful time guys 💕

However such is the dedication that Chris has to his rather arduous role in organising the various leagues and competitions that he wants to remind any dawdlers out there who have yet to put in there entries for the AIIB Irish competitions that they MUST be in by this FRIDAY the 18th of SEPTEMBER.

Please help Chris by getting your entry in and it would make Cliodhna very happy too.

The results are in for the first week on Monday night rinks and the Ocean league.

In the rinks there were good starts for Sandra Bailie, Richard Faulkner, Chris Mulholland and current champions Michael Merritt. There were narrow victory’s for Gary Eaton and Don Mills.

The ocean league is operating on a slightly different basis this year. 6 designated teams of Sharks and Dolphins who all compete against each other regardless of designation.

The top Shark team and top Dolphin team play each other in a final play off match at the end of the season in order to be crowned Ocean league winners.

This keeps the competition fresh and pits everyone against everyone.

Lawrence Long and his rink head the league for Dolphins and Martin Taggert for the Sharks.

There was an exciting match on rink 12 when being 1 down on the last end Tommy McCauley wicked in or as Tommy would have you believe perfectly played his last bowl to get a draw!

The buzz in the stadium with all 13 greens full was great and there were some brilliant heads built on both greens.

It’s a full house tonight too, have fun everyone 😁

Good morning,

We had a terrific start to the new season yesterday.

At 11:30 and 2:30 we had lovely group photos taken by David (Bailey) Scott who will be helping out again this year in providing content, thank you David.

Then the action began and Graeme Burn started his campaign to retain the championship of with a 35-2 win with the rinks of McIntyre, Hagan, Grahame and Angela Thompson all breaking the 20 point barrier.

In the senior league Henry McFarland and his rink excelled starting their year off with a very convincing win. Current holder Matt Stevenson also won alongside G Hall and S McDowell.

The evening leagues are not yet posted an update will be uploaded when I have them.

Today has 5 leagues staring and we wish everyone good luck on their bowling journey this year.

The 11:30 and 2:30 groups all looking radiant.

And we are off…..

Welcome back to our 60th anniversary season with lots to look forward to.

All league entries are excellent and look very competitive.

Today we have 4 leagues starting.

11:30am Rinks current holder G Burn
2:30pm Senior rinks current holder M Stevenson
7pm Rinks current holder M Merritt
7pm The battle between the Dolphins and Sharks starts again with the Sharks hoping to retain their title.

We wish every single competitor success, play well and above all else enjoy yourself ..

As we enter our 60th anniversary season with our members both established and new with all the excitement and anticipation that a new season brings the management, staff and committee on behalf of our members would like to send our thoughts and prayers to those that are no longer with us.

Some through illness or infirmity or some that have sadly passed away.

Each individual brought something unique to the stadium and are not forgotten by the club, their friends or fellow competitors.

We thank them for adding to the rich tapestry of person that makes our club so special.
