Suffolk Swifts 4 - 2 Rock Athletic

With our first game of the BDFL premier division, saw us host Rock at the Grove,

Swifts took an early lead through Jake O’Neill when a scramble in the box saw the ball fall to Jake’s feet who calmly slotted the ball home to give us a 1-0 lead ⚽️

Rock responded quickly with an equaliser before new signing Paul Williamson responded with an absolute worldie into the top corner from outside the box 💥

Rock battled back and found another equaliser which brought the game level at 2-2 just before half time

Into the second half and swifts continue to create more and more chances until another new signing John Boyd trying to out do Paul Williamson with his own absolute worldie from outside the corner of the 18 yard box and bringing swifts back into the lead 🥅

Not long after that and some great build up saw Cairnsy being brought down in the box and a penalty being awarded, up stepped Jake who slotted it home with his second off the game as we ran out 4-2 winners ⚽️

MOTM was another new signing in young Anto Carter in left back yesterday

Junior Shield round 1

Suffolk Swifts v 18th Newtownabbey 11s

With a make shift team this week, we travelled to 18th for the first round of the junior shield and saw ourselves fall short with a narrow 1-0 defeat to a very young and well organised 18th Newtownabbey 11s.

Both teams played a strong and competitive game all match with both teams wasting good chances to take the lead early on, and this continued into the second half with chances being created by both teams.

18th took the lead with a great finish from outside the box in the 51st minute which in turn lead to the only goal of the game.

Swifts continued to press and create chances, hitting the bar and some goal line clearances from 18th kept the game at 1-0.

We wish 18th good luck for their season and good luck in the next round of the cup 🏆
