How's it going folks?

Are you thinking of trying a new sport, setting yourself a new challenge or maybe learning some self defence....all while getting extremely fit and strong?? Then give Judo a go!!

I myself have been practicing and competing in Judo for a number of years and can honestly say it's the best thing I've ever done!!!! It's very rewarding in terms of the effort you put in and the vast combination of results you get.

I was looking to try something different so I joined a local Judo club based in the Divis Community Centre (Falls Road), called St.Peter's Olympic Judo Club which is run by Gerry McCabe and Sean Sullivan. These two men are absolute gents and create a great welcoming atmosphere which would make anyone feel at home from the minute you walk in the door.

Below are some of Gerry and Sean's achievements both as Judo players and Coach's......

Sean is a 10 time All Ireland Senior Champion, Irish international Repeasentive Olympic Games Atlanta 1996, represented Ireland at 5 Europen Championships with a semi final place in Belgium 1997 and 3 World Championships with a quater finals place in Birmingham 1999. Sean also represented Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Judo Championships in 1992 and finished with silver medal.

Gerry is an ex Irish International Manger and Judo Coach to 5 European teams and 5 World's teams. He is also the Ex-Director of Sport of the Irish Judo Association (IJA). Gerry was also Assistant Coach to the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Judo Team in 1992.

In summary, between the two, both Gerry and Sean have competed and coached Judo players to the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Judo Championships, European Championships (also the Disability European Judo Championships) and World Championship events. They have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience in Judo and offer world class Judo coaching to both beginner and advanced athletes alike.

Client results, Sid Devine post 12 weeks 💪.

Upon coming in for training, Sid had no real goals other than to get the bounce back in his step that he had when doing my circuit classes a while back. Taking this into consideration, I decided not to take the extreme "transformation program" approach and make this an enjoyable/educational experience for him as he had the patience to allow the changes to occur over an extended period of time, instead of wanting things to happen overnight!!

This is a great attitude to have as it promotes adherence to a program and allows the client to fit training around their life, instead of their life around training, which often never works!!

Even though Sid now has the experience and confidence to go and join a gym and continue to train himself, he has decided to stay with me and train on a long term bases and see what the next chapter has to offer him 😊.

Great work my friend, your a pleasure to work with and an absolute work horse in the gym. Long may it continue 😆
