Chipolopolo caretaker coach George Lwandamina is expected to name his provisional squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Algeria and Togo.

Vice-captain Lubambo Musonda is set to miss the games as he continues to nurse a long-term injury.

Several European-based players are expected to make the squad, including captain Fashion Sakala, Patson Daka, Kings Kangwa and Miguel Chaiwa.

From the local scene, players such as Willard Mwanza and Dominic Chanda are also expected to be included.

Honestly, I strongly feel the USA league is not doing enough for some of our top female players.

Take Rachael Kundananji, for example. She was one of the best players in the world and became the most expensive female footballer at the time when she moved to the USA. But since making that move, her form has really gone down. Averaging around five goals a season is not what we expected from Rachael.

Then there is Barbra Banda. We all know what Barbra is capable of. She has been one of the best players in the world, but her club has struggled, and that has also affected her performances. For me, she needs to be playing in a league where she is constantly challenged and competing at the highest level.

One thing I also don't like about the USA league is that there is no relegation. The pressure is different when teams know they can have a bad season without worrying about being relegated.

I honestly think Barbra should consider moving to Europe, maybe Spain or England, where she can compete against the best week in, week out.

Look at Grace Chanda. Her performances dropped after she moved to Orlando Pride, but after moving to Mexico, she found her form again and was one of our standout players at the recently concluded WAFCON.

Sometimes it's not about the player losing their ability. The environment matters too. Our best players need to be in leagues that challenge them, push them and bring out the very best in them.
