*Save the Dates*
A few weeks back we announced that we would be planning some fundraising events to help young Ciarla, after a number of meetings between ourselves and our friends at Lámh Dhearg GAC we are pleased to announce a programme of fundraising activities – *please save the dates and please participate as much as you can!*
Ciarla is a daughter of Lámh Dhearg player and mentor Conor, grand daughter of past chairman Barney Herron. The Herron family are synonymous with VC Glendale Cycling club with links back into Lámh Dhearg via Maura & Paddy Larkin, Ciara Doherty and Raymie Herron. In addition we have many members who played up in Hannastown and of course we were prominent in their Tour de Fitz to Croke Park many moons ago.
Ciarla was born with a rare form of Celebral Palsy and struggles with her mobility and is unable to walk or stand unsupported. She uses a kaye walker (walking frame) and walking sticks to move around and requires maximum support for all of her daily activities. She has the potential to walk in the future but this will depend on early intervention and continuous treatment in the form of intensive physiotherapy. She recently completed a 3 week intensive block of therapy in London and has made massive progress, however much more therapy is required to reach our goal for her of independent walking.
This therapy is not provided by the NHS and therefore incurs a high financial cost of approx £10,000 per 3 week block.

Lead by Lamh Dhearg LGFA squads & supported by VC Glendale.
*Sat 1st Aug*
VC Glendale Cycle for Ciarla. Couch to 50k celebration and 100k sportive leaving from the Lámh Dhearg & return including Coffee Morning
Other fundraising events will be supported throughout the year and at VCG race events.
