Leo from our 2016 Juniors went along to Lisburn Castlereagh Junior League 2017 RTC trials, worked incredibly hard and gave it his all — and we’re so happy to say that he has been selected for the team! 🎉👏

All your hard work, determination and dedication have paid off, Leo. We couldn’t be more proud of you and can’t wait to watch you continue to grow, learn and enjoy every moment of your football journey.

A brilliant first half saw the team play some fantastic football, with excellent passing, teamwork and plenty of chances created 💙

The second half brought a few mistakes and lapses in concentration, but the team dug deep, stayed strong and secured a well-deserved win. 💪👏

The first half was a bit slow from the boys — not enough pressing, communication or urgency. At half time we asked them to up the tempo, work harder, close down and show more aggression.

The second half was a completely different story. We were the better team, had them pinned back for most of the half and created plenty of chances. We hit the bar twice, their keeper made some good saves, and we even had a free kick blocked on the line.

The biggest positive was that every single boy took the half-time message on board and gave everything in the second half. That’s all we can ask for. We told them how proud we were of their performance and to keep their heads up — the results will come.

For a new team with new coaches, the performance was excellent 💙🤍💙

What a start to the weekend for Derriaghy CC FC Academy 2016 Juniors! 💙

A fantastic performance tonight,along with a well-deserved clean sheet.

The first half was a little sleepy from the team, with several players struggling to maintain their positions and follow their roles. With school starting back and a tough week behind them, it’s understandable that the boys weren’t quite at their best. We know there are plenty more gears in this team, and that will come with time and continued hard work.

In the second half, we came out with much more aggression and determination. We wanted more goals, started to play with greater confidence, and took our chances much better. Although we still mixed up our positions at times, this is something we’ll work on and go over together on Monday night.

In the final 10 minutes, the game opened up, and the boys finished strongly.

A brilliant effort from everyone involved. Well done, kids 💙🤍💙

Derriaghy 2016 Colts vs TW Braga

Goals:

Coby ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

The first half was particularly impressive, as the team settled quickly and played some excellent football. We started the second half well too, but following a penalty decision, the momentum shifted in Braga’s favour and we struggled to regain control of the game.

Coby was awarded Man of the Match after an outstanding performance, scoring all four of our goals. He was excellent throughout and thoroughly deserved the recognition. 👌🏻

Overall, it was a very encouraging start to the league. The boys have only trained together a handful of times, so to see the level of performance, teamwork and progress on display was extremely pleasing.

There is plenty more to come from this group, and we look forward to building on today’s performance as the season progresses ⚽️💙

There were several key positives to take from today’s performance:

🔷 Effort
🔷 Attitude
🔷 Listening
🔷 Applying the lessons from training

All of these were excellent today, and that is the level of football we know these boys are capable of producing.

The attitude shown throughout the game was fantastic. We never let our heads drop, and the boys remained focused and disciplined throughout.

It was genuinely great to simply sit back and watch them play, work together and put into practice what they have been learning in training. Hopefully, there is plenty more to come from this fantastic little team. 💙

🏆 Man of the Match – Ollie

A well-deserved Man of the Match award for Ollie following his four goals and excellent work rate. Most importantly, he maintained a fantastic attitude throughout the game and set a great example on the pitch.

Well done, Ollie! 💪
