THT Hockey camps are designed for participants of all ability levels. Training exercises are diverse and range from the basics through to international standard concepts. Our coaching programmes are designed to challenge the players whilst emphasising enjoyment. It is our mission to use the "FUNdamentals of hockey" approach to create an enjoyable atmosphere where players of all levels can vastly
improve their technical and tactical field hockey ability. We believe that everyone has hockey talent and we want yours to be the best it can be!!! How the camp will work:
Hockey will begin at 1000 but kids can be dropped off from 0930 and must be collected before 1530. Throughout the camp there will be 45 minutes for lunch, however, food will not be provided so kids must bring their own lunch. There will be a tap for kids to constantly refill their water bottles throughout the day. Do not worry if you do not know anyone else who is coming to the camp. Everyone going to the camp will have the same objectives of playing hockey and having fun. The coaches are used to working at camps and are more then able to encourage people to get to know each other. Calling All Goal keepers:
You are of course invited to the party. There will even be a limited number of goal keeper kits available for players to use if they would like to try it out for one session
If you would like to book a place on the camp. Please personal message or leave a comment on this page or even better email us for more info on how to book onto the most exciting camp to hit Ireland
THT hockey camps is run and organised by Peter Caruth and Rory Capper and are assisted throughout the camp by coaches who have a very high level of coaching or playing experience. Olympic Athlete Peter Caruth
"I am just back from the Rio Olympics having competed with Ireland for the last 12 years of my hockey career. I have played professionally in both Belgium and Ireland and am currently player coach at Annandale HC where I have loved helping 4 boys achieve U18 and U21 Irish trials. My record coaching junior teams Includes multiples league and cup wins across several age ranges including time at the international level with the Irish U21 girls.”
Despite this success his coaching methods continue to emphasise the need to have fun. Oh, did we mention he has a celebration that has gone viral "the ostrich" and during THT we will look to challenge you but also help you release you inner ostrich
Elite Coach Rory capper
I have coached junior teams in many countries including Northern Ireland, Australia and Belgium. Throughout university I coached university men's teams and whilst in America i was assistant coach for one of the top college teams; 6 times National Championship winners The University of North Carolina. Where I was involved in all the junior teams and guided the ladies first XI to promotion into the national leagues and to victory in the cup. THT hockey camps is a chance to bring all the things i have learned back to where it all began in sunny Belfast!! Health and Safety
Despite our emphasis on fun, keeping kids safe while they learn is our number one priority. At THT hockey we have a dedicated Child Safeguarding Officer who ensures all Coaches understand and adhere to our safeguarding policy. We believe through proper processes and procedures including; first aid trained coaches, ensuring a no bigger than 10:1 ratio of kids to coaches (as per NSPCC guidelines) and performing detailed risk assessments; accidents can be kept to a minimum.
