Our child to adult swimming lessons & teenage clubs continue under Templemore Baths Aquatic Sports Club and Templemore Swim School. This page belongs to TEMPLEMORE USERS TRUST LTD (the Trust). In the late 70s/early 80s, Belfast City Council wanted to close Templemore Baths due to the new leisure centres they had built in the area - namely Maysfield and Avoniel. Eventually, the Council agreed that
if the Baths were to remain open that they operated under a locally managed not for profit organisation - Templemore Users Trust Ltd was formed. The Trust had two primary objectives (1) save the Baths for future generations; and (2) to teach swimming at affordable pricing. The Trust operated Templemore Baths since the early 80s. The Trust taught thousands of people how to swim, offered leisure swim provision, a competitive swim club was formed and a gym and sauna were also available. All provided for the Community, at Community pricing. The Baths commenced necessary re-development in August 2020 and re-opened in 2023. One of the Trust's primary objectives has been met. Unfortunately during the process of re-development, the Council decided it was necessary to hand over the running of the Baths going forward. This episode in the Trust's History from 1983 to 2023 will be catalogued at some point in the future. However, the Trust remains as commited to the Community as it ever has. The Baths have been saved and we will continue to provide swim lessons, leisure & competitive swim provision in the Baths and other venues going forward.
