Thank you to all who joined me yesterday!
Join again tomorrow...

While facilitating my TEDx watch parties, I recorded myself speaking (I didn't record the room because I want that to be safe for people to discuss this topic openly).

This is one of the things that stood out:
While preparing for my TEDx, the statistics were still changing.

Sadly, the stats I give at the end are just for Northern Ireland.
The picture is similar across the world.

We hear about the most extreme cases because they're the ones that make the news.

But the behaviours lower down the ladder (a concept I introduce in my talk) rarely make the headlines, even though they affect people's lives every single day.

When we see another awful headline, it's easy to think, How could I possibly change something that big?

But what if we asked a different question?

Where did that behaviour begin, and where can we step in before it reaches that point?

That's why I wanted to create these watch parties.

Not because one conversation will solve violence against women and girls, but because each of us has influence with the people around us.

Sometimes it's those small actions and conversations that create the biggest ripple effects.

My hope is that everyone leaves with one practical action they can take.
Not everything.
Just one thing.

Tomorrow are the final two watch parties, at 12pm and 6pm (BST), and there are a few places left.

I'd love to have you there.

On Friday Daniel John Graham Daniel Crawford & I went to see Harry Baker. I've followed Harry for years, so I was really looking forward to seeing him live! But I had no idea what a gift it would turn out to be.

Years ago, I won one of Harry's Instagram competitions after he accidentally made a "mistake" while signing a book & drew a dinosaur over it. He sent me that book, and Friday night I got to bring it back to him, so he could add another 🦕

But the biggest surprise was found later that night as I drove home...

Reflecting, I realised that somewhere between the laughter, the words that spoke right to heart of humanity, something I love about Harry's poetry & a room full of people sharing moments of joy, sadness and love, my body had softened.

It was only on the drive home I noticed how much stress & responsibility I'd been holding before that night.

It was a great lesson in what I teach my clients...

Sometimes we don't realise the weight we're carrying until our nervous system is given enough safety to put it down, even for a little while.

We often think taking a break is about recharging so we can get back to work.

But Friday also reminded me that it's also about remembering who we are underneath the pressure.

The version of ourselves that laughs more easily.
Feels more connected.
Breathes a little deeper.

As someone who works with trauma every day, I'm reminded that while our bodies hold the impact of difficult experiences, they can also respond to joy, connection & moments that feel safe.

Those moments don't erase what's hard, but they can remind us what it feels like to be ourselves again.

The conversations, the warmth & the shared appreciation also reminded me how powerful it is to find your people. Community has a way of helping us feel more like ourselves.

As Harry says:

"Life is too short to eat celery.
Life is too long to feed jealousy.
Life is likely just the right length to need therapy."

So I left with another dinosaur in my book, aching cheeks from laughing, a few new friends, and a gentle reminder that sometimes joy doesn't just help us put down what what we've been carrying.

It helps us remember who we are when we do.

My recent TEDx "Why Do Men Behave This Way?" is a question women ask each other, unconsciously or consciously.

And we know the answer.
We've always known.

So this isn't the question I want to explore... it's "Why do they get away with it?"

Jokes that get laughed off.
Comments that get excused.
Harassment that gets managed.
Intimidation that gets tolerated.
And then violence that somehow still gets treated as shocking, as though it arrived out of nowhere.

I call it the ladder of permission.
Each rung left unchallenged becomes permission for the next.
And that silence, is what holds the ladder steady.

I don't speak to men in this talk because I think they're the only problem.
I speak to them because not causing harm is not the same as being an active ally.
And thinking those two things are the same is part of how the ladder stays up.

Next week, I'm running watch parties for us all to watch this together.

Because this doesn't work as something you watch then move on from.
It works best when we stay in the room and work out what we're actually going to do with it.

It's 1 hour together.
We'll watch the talk.
Talk about what landed.
What made you uncomfortable
And most importantly, what you're going to do differently.

No-one is untouched by this because it's bigger than any one of us. It's an underlying system narrative that's been running for a long time.

If you work in the screen industries you've seen the ladder on set. You've watched someone step onto the first rung and wondered if you should have said something. Or maybe you've been the one left carrying it after everyone else moved on.

If you work with survivors, or in frontline services, or you've spent years trying to explain this to people who don't want to hear it, you know what I'm talking about.

If you're a man and this lands, please come and bring your friends.

The watch parties will be a mix of all of the above. That's deliberate.

The conversation gets better when it's not just one group talking to itself.

I've got 4 sessions planned so pick the one that works for you and sign up.

If changing this matters to you, I want you there.
Excited to see what happens...

Your jaw’s tight and it’s not even call time.

You haven’t been yelled at.
Nothing’s gone wrong.
But your body’s already braced.

This is what pressure looks like when it’s constant - quiet, heavy, and not spoken about.

🤫The silence before the day starts

👌The back-to-back schedule you talk yourself into handling

🙏The ask that lands on top of everything else

And the story you’ve learned to tell yourself?

“This is just part of the job.”
“The stress is worth it.”
“This pressure is the price of security.”

But that story has a cost.

💪Pushing yourself to the max isn’t proof of your resilience.

🚨The signals from your body aren’t problems to push through.

👋They’re trying to tell you something.

📣 I’ve got 2 spaces open this month for Reclaim Yourself — 1:1 sessions for people working behind the scenes in Film & TV and the creative industries who want to stay excellent without staying in overdrive.

If your jaw’s been tight before the day even begins, please know you don’t have to hold it alone.

I’ve got space for you 👋

**CALLING ALL CAST & CREW IN THE TV & FILM INDUSTRY**

Introducing my new FREE (for now) community...

📽️🎬The Cast & Crew Collective
A safe space where action means a new take on transforming culture in the TV & Film Production Industries

This isn’t just a place to talk about change - it’s a space to practice it. Together.

From the way we show up on set to how we lead ourselves when no one’s watching.

This group is for you if:

✨ You work in TV & Film, either as cast or crew and you care about how people are treated, not just the final product

✨ You’ve seen the cracks in the system and want to do things differently

✨ You believe change starts with how we lead ourselves - on set and off the clock

✨ You’re ready for growth, not just grit

Whether you’re a runner, a HOD, or somewhere in between - if you’re here to explore a better way of working and leading in this industry, you’re in the right place.

We’re not here for ego, blame, or burnout worship.

We’re here to create space for honest, kind, and forward-moving conversations - without the shame, judgment, or toxic resilience that’s become far too normal.

This isn’t about fixing you.

Because you’re not broken.

It’s about changing the systems we’re all working in so we can do the work we love in a way that works for us.

So if you're ready to approach the industry's culture in a new way through a trauma informed lens to bring more safety, empowerment and accountability to the space, particularly for those who face gendered barriers - then this group is for you!

Feel free to share with anyone you know in the industry or just send good vibes - all appreciated ✨🤗🔥
