is self defence in the uk ok. Yes, it is legal to defend yourself in the UK, provided you use only "reasonable force" under Self-defence in English law. Scottish law is a little different.
What is Reasonable Force?Necessity: You must genuinely believe that force is needed to protect yourself, another person, or your property.Proportionate response: The level of force you use must be reasonable and proportionate to the threat you face.Heat of the moment: Courts recognize that people acting in a panic or sudden emergency cannot measure their exact defensive actions.
Everyone needs to train for the day it comes to us or our own.
No point saying after the fact I wish I had attended a self defence class.
It's our duty to train and look after each other.
No-one else will aikidoka brothers and sisters.

Is it legal to defend yourself in the UK? Understand your rights, what reasonable force means, and what you can legally carry according to UK self defence law.

Aikido, a modern Japanese martial art, is excellent for seniors (60+) because its principles of fluid, circular movements redirecting energy instead of force build strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination without heavy impact on joints, reducing injury risk. It promotes mental focus, calmness, and self-confidence while offering adaptable self-defense skills, even learning to fall safely. The supportive community in a dojo further enhances well-being and provides a gentle yet effective way to stay active and engaged. Aikido is a physical activity that is martial but nonviolent, and while being dynamic, it offers a low-impact and force-free path to wellbeing and mental health.

You can wake up at 6.

Train.
Meditate.
Breathe.
Take the dog a walk.

And still, all you have built is a routine.

A ritual however, begins when you connect the action to something higher than yourself.

You don't train only to look better.

You train because your body was given to you and you have a duty to keep it strong.

You don't sit in silence only to reduce stress.

You sit in silence to listen.

You don't pray because it is another box to tick in your morning.

You pray because you remember that you are not the highest power in this world.

This is the difference,

Routine gives you structure.
Ritual gives the structure a soul.

Build rituals.

Be honorable.

And enjoy your time walking with the dog.
