🏸 IT'S OFFICIALLY OPEN! 🏸

The first Scottish Triple Event is landing in September in Kilmarnock, and it's going to be something special...

πŸ”₯ 15 events across 2 action-packed days
πŸ”₯ Copper, Bronze and Silver events
πŸ”₯ A full weekend of competitive badminton

At the moment, gents' events are capped at 16 entries per event. We know some events will prove more popular than others, so we'll review numbers as entries come in and may increase capacities where possible.

This will also be the first event where we actively move players from Copper into Bronze if they have entered the wrong level. Don't worry,we will always contact you first and discuss any changes.

If you're unsure which level is right for you, send us a message. We'll happily look at your rankings and recent results and advise where we think you'll have the best experience.

Our goal is simple: we want our Copper events to be the best they can be. With Bronze and Silver events available, there really isn't a reason to play down. Equally, if you're a Silver player sitting comfortably in the top rankings and regularly winning Silver events, is Silver really where you should be focusing, same for bronze, time for a challenge, not just the easy win?

Have a look at our grading guide and be honest with yourself. If you're consistently winning at your current level, it might be time to step up. Let someone else have a chance at our stunning medals!

We want every event to be competitive, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone involved. Let's make the first Scottish Triple a fantastic weekend of badminton for players of all abilities.

Entries are now open! 🏸

Our shuttle post created quite a bit of controversy yesterday, so let's see how this one goes down...

Let's talk about players refusing to move up a grade, or deliberately playing down to protect a ranking position.

If you're consistently ranked in the top 20, and certainly the top 10-15, you should be testing yourself in Gold events and the occasional Silver, not playing every silver to get a gold level ranking.... Ranking points are supposed to reflect your ability, not become something to protect at all costs.

The same applies throughout the grades. If you're regularly winning Bronze events but never entering Silver, it might be time to challenge yourself and move up.

One of the biggest reasons players stop entering tournaments is because they see certain names in the draw and immediately feel they have no realistic chance of competing. That's not healthy for the sport, and it's not fair on the players who enter looking for competitive, balanced badminton.

For our upcoming events, if we receive entries that appear significantly out of place β€” for example highly ranked players entering Copper events, we will politely review those entries and may move players up a grade where appropriate. Our aim is not to exclude anyone, but to ensure fair competition for everyone involved.

We know ranking isn't everything. We've seen top Scottish players compete at our events and not win. Different partners, different disciplines and different circumstances all play a part. That's why we actively encourage stronger players to partner less experienced players and step outside their comfort zone.

What we don't want to see is experienced, highly ranked players collecting points in grades that are clearly below their level. Competitive badminton only works when players challenge themselves and allow others the opportunity to do the same.

The goal should be good matches, fair competition and developing players through the grades, not protecting a ranking number.

Let's Talk About Wasting Shuttles... Its not just a problem at our tournaments.
We had 6 tubes of shuttles that looked like this, nearly new, would you change your car tyres if they were in this condition?
There are culprits at every tournament changing shuttles that have barely been hit. We see you... and yes, we count them!
When you wonder why tournament entry fees keep increasing, think about the match where the shuttle was still near perfect, but your opponent wanted to change it... 6, 7, 8 times.
Every shuttle costs a minimum of Β£2.30. It is getting beyond a joke when some shuttles, like the one in the video, are being handed back after two points and declared "done" β€” usually when someone is losing.
Are you changing it because it is genuinely damaged, or are you just wasting other people's money?
We completely understand the occasional sliced shuttle or mish*t that destroys a feather. It happens. But if you're playing Bronze, you're probably not Viktor Axelsen.
Having worked on shuttle control at international events, I can tell you that many top players hand in shuttles in a worse state than some of the ones being rejected at local tournaments.
Let's be a bit more considerate. Every unnecessary shuttle change adds to the cost of running events, and ultimately that cost gets passed on to everyone.
Keep destroying shuttles through good badminton and honest wear and tear β€” that's part of the game. But changing perfectly good shuttles because you're frustrated, losing, or just fancy a fresh one? That's something we could all do without.
At this rate, I might genuinely have to introduce an "Excessive Shuttle Usage Surcharge" on future entries!

WE HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!

(I have not stopped laughing at the AI image I got myself)

In 2019 we delivered the first Ayrshire Bronze.

In 2025 we delivered the first Ayrshire Silver.

Then in 2026 we brought the first full Bonanza to Ayrshire.

But we were only getting started...
Introducing the 1st West Coast Triple Ayrshire – the first Scottish Triple event, bringing together Copper, Bronze and Silver tournaments into one massive competitive weekend!

19th & 20th September 2026

This incredible event will kick off our new season and promises an action-packed weekend of badminton, competition and fun.

And we're not stopping there! The Triple will be followed by two further Bonanzas in March and May, alongside our growing calendar of events across the West Coast of Scotland.

What started as a vision to bring more opportunities to Ayrshire has grown into something truly special. None of this would be possible without the support of the players, clubs, volunteers and sponsors who continue to back our events.

We can't wait to welcome you to another historic weekend of badminton.

Masters Tournament Cancellation

It is with regret that we have made the difficult decision to cancel our first Masters Tournament.

Unfortunately, the number of entries received has not been sufficient to make the event financially viable. To provide the quality tournament experience we aim for, including enough matches for all players, we generally require around 75 entries.

We do feel that part of this was due to our advertising timeline. As tournament organisers, we work hard to avoid clashes with other events across the West of Scotland, and we also avoid advertising during the promotion periods of other Masters tournaments. Unfortunately, we were unaware that another Masters event was taking place during the time slot we had available for advertising, which significantly limited our ability to promote the tournament.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who entered and supported the event. We appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to try something a little different.

Over the coming days, we will be contacting all entrants to offer either a full refund or the option to transfer their entry fee to one of our future tournaments during the season.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of badminton in Ayrshire.

I have finally recovered from an amazing weekend!

Here is a rundown of the winners from each event. Once again, this was a very well-attended tournament that ran smoothly throughout the weekend. On the whole, player conduct was outstanding, and there were so many bright spots across all events. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who participated and accommodated my terrible pronunciation over the microphone!

Firstly, congratulations to the finalists and winners from Saturday's events:
πŸ† Men's Bronze Singles
πŸ₯‡ Muhammad Mustafa Zaib
πŸ₯ˆ Samuel Street [3]
πŸ† Women's Bronze Singles
πŸ₯‡ Alex Chan-Taylor
πŸ₯ˆ Malavika Shivakumar
πŸ† Men's Copper Singles
πŸ₯‡ Tharun Siddharth Shyam
πŸ₯ˆ Ali Tanveer
πŸ† Bronze Mixed Doubles
πŸ₯‡ Rajdeep Reddy Katamreddy [4] & Malavika Shivakumar
πŸ₯ˆ Naithan McNeil [3] & Rebecca Bissett
It was a truly amazing day of badminton. We came incredibly close to breaking the match-play record from our very first Bonanza event, narrowly missing out by just 12 games!

Sunday doubles day.

We increased the scoring format to 3 x 21, although it would have helped if I had remembered I'd also included quarter-finals when planning around the old 3 x 15 format! Safe to say it was a value-for-money day for the players.
Once again, the standard of play was fantastic, and it was a pleasure to watch so many great matches unfold.
Congratulations to the finalists and winners of Sunday's events:
πŸ† Men's Bronze Doubles
πŸ₯‡ Bishan Gurung & Angus Macleod
πŸ₯ˆ Ian King [3] & Joshua Lowe
πŸ† Men's Copper Doubles
πŸ₯‡ Muhammad Ahsan Amjad & Tharun Siddharth Shyam
πŸ₯ˆ Vivek Arora & Ziad Karamat
πŸ† Women's Bronze Doubles
πŸ₯‡ Rebecca Dobbin [1] & Fiona Simpson
πŸ₯ˆ Rebecca Bissett [2] & Carla-Louise Mackenzie
We absolutely love running these events and are already looking forward to seeing this season's Copper winners and finalists stepping up into our Bronze tournaments next season.
Going forward, all our tournaments will be run in the popular Bonanza format. We also have something very special coming up in September, the first ever Scottish Triple in Ayrshire, where players from across all levels will get the chance to battle it out over an incredible weekend of badminton.

WAs we round off another amazing tournament season, we are getting ready for something completely new… our very first Masters event.

This photo was taken at our very first event back in October 2025, and it feels fitting that we finish the season by trying something different once again.

At the moment we only have 14 entries, and realistically we need closer to 75 entries to fully cover the costs of running the weekend. If you have been thinking about entering, now is the time to do it!

A few things people may not realise:
β€’ Entry is open to players from anywhere, as long as you are affiliated within your own country
β€’ The age entry starts from just 30+ (singles and 60+ for combined ages).
β€’ Singles and Mixed will take place on Saturday, with level doubles on Sunday.
β€’ This will also be the FIRST event where we award GOLD medals to the winners and SILVER medals to the runners-up πŸ₯‡.

We have worked really hard to build fun, welcoming tournaments with plenty of badminton for everybody, whether you are experienced or trying something new for the first time.

Please support the event if you can, and even if you cannot play, a share of this post would genuinely help us massively ❀️.

WOW… 117 entries for our 2nd West Coast Ayrshire Bonanza!
Thank you to every single person who has entered and supported the event. We are pretty sure this is the first full Copper event in Scotland, which makes it even more exciting to see the numbers we have had.

The boys absolutely smashed the singles event, although unfortunately we didn’t manage to get any ladies entered for the singles or doubles this time around. As this is our first event including Copper singles, we know these things can take time to build and grow.

What we DO know is that next weekend is going to be packed, busy, competitive, and most importantly… FUN!
I’m already quite sure I’m going to be absolutely exhausted by the end of it… and I’m only watching!!! πŸ˜‚

Thank you again everyone , we genuinely appreciate the support for what we are building with the West Coast Circuit. πŸ’™πŸΈ
