Bedworth Cricket Club Welcome! We have junior players from 3-18 and midweek and weekend cricket for men and women. Cricket for all!

Junior cricket from 3 years upwards with girls and boys involved, 2 midweek teams, 4 Saturday teams, 2 Sunday teams and our newly established Women's team that train and play softball and hardball. A great day for the club on Sunday as the Ladies cricket section took on a Chairmans' XI at the Miners Welfare Park. A competitive match which saw the Chairmans XI narrowly winning but the result was unimportant as the ladies showed they have what it takes to compete successfully in hardball cricket, improving with every game they play. Well done to all for supporting the day.

Wins for the 1st and 4th team this weekend.

Highlights :

James Ward (u17) 4-36

Harry Jenkins (u13) 5-16 - first adult fifer.

Ethan Johnston (u13) 1-13 - his first adult wicket and hitting his first adult boundary to win the game.

Ollie Smith (u15) - 33 run partnership

Isaac Clay (u15) - 20 run partnership

The 4th team winning a tense match against local side Bulkington Sports & Social Cricket Club

Bedworth bowled first and dismissed Bulkington for 81. The 10th wicket pair putting on 30 runs that nearly proved the difference. George Bates ripping a big off spinner through the defences of the batsman to close the Bulkington innings.

Captain Emerson Graham has introduced a policy of prioritising development of players over short term results this season. His faith and investment in the younger players was rewarded with the young Bedworth bowling attack all taking wickets.

In reply, on a lively pitch wickets and runs kept the game interesting. U15 Isaac Clay added 20 runs with the senior stalwarts at number 3, before a collapse left Bedworth at 39-6 with only the youngsters and the captain left to bat. U15 Ollie Smith then put on a 33 run partnership leaving 8 to win. A mini collapse then meant 4 were needed from the last pair.

Captain Emerson Graham reiterated to his side to play straight as he walked to the crease as last man.

12 year old Ethan Johnston faced a short, fast delivery and dispatched it for 4 to the very long square boundary in front of the pavilion to win the game in front of a large rapturous crowd.

An excellent days cricket played in great spirit. The highlight for both sides being the excellent sit down tea provided by Bulkington.

The 1st team bowled Streetly out for 151. Warwickshire pathway pace bowler James Ward taking 4-36. James has been at the club since u9 softball and now leads the attack for the club. Bedworth then chasing it down for the loss of 5 wickets.

Bedworth Cricket Club would like to extend a massive thankyou to the staff and pupils of the Foundation Learning social development group, North Warwickshire SLC.
Over the last month they have attended the ground 3 times to completely repaint our wooden fence around the ground and getting it looking a bright white again. Special thanks to Ian Lee, a staff member and former player of the Club for organising this activity.
