Some words from our no1 supporter big Neil!
We travelled to Sapcote Wednesday night to play a Bulls Head fc side who coming off the back of their Cup Final win were definitely looking to stop our unbeaten league run with a strong 16 available! Bulls were physical from the start looking to play long to the forwards & capitalise on set pieces & that’s where the 1st goal came from, an early long through that caused confusion in our box finding its way in from a flick on, 1-0 Bulls Head!
It was nip & tuck until around the half hour when Eagles took control we just couldn’t find a way through the well drilled defence of our opponents! HT 1-0 Bulls Head!
The lads started fast 2nd half after some encouraging words at half time, within 10 mins the Bulls Head lads were clearly tiring with Eagles knocking it round well, with our “ball boy” big Neil camped behind their goal fetching the ball constantly & frustrating the home keeper they had no time to rest! On the hour mark Axel found himself 1 on 1 & after 2 dubious no decisions from the ref he had no hesitation in awarding a penalty with Axel being took out in the box! Up stepped Brad ⚽️ to sink it and pull us level 1-1 making him Eagles top scorer on 13, GAME ON!
The lads kept their foot on the pedal and only 5 mins later it was 2-1 Eagles with Logan whipping in a lovey corner for Sam ⚽️ to beat 2 defenders to the ball and power a header past the keeper taking his tally for the season to 13 also! The lads were now relentless and even in the blistering heat they somehow kept the tempo at 💯 causing Bulls Head problems constantly with them now struggling & the linesman getting repetitive arm strain nothing could be done about our 3rd with Axel ⚽️ ghosting past 2 players to slot the ball in the bottom corner 3-1 Eagles! Bulls had a good chance from a corner that resulted in a bizarre incident with our keeper taking a knock, Ref played on, the ball out finds Jamie on the left 10 yards onside to go through and score a cracking volley only for the Ref to decide to blow up for a head injury to our keeper 🤯 but wait no it’s offside with no flag up?? Eagles showed no frustration and kept the high press in full swing and sealed the win and an invincible league campaign.
MoM went to our stand in keeper Lewis 🏆 who made some cracking saves with 2 standing out from last ditch on the line saves and all round distribution being class! 👏🏻
