Thank you everyone for a very enjoyable summer tournament this morning.
In our first game we started very brightly and should have taken the lead with Sam’s fantastic effort that was kept out by a droopy cross bar, Leighton was then unlucky on the rebound. Coundon Cockerels then took the game to us and scored two quick goals. A good tight game though
Game 2 saw us take on Hillmorton who we haven’t played before and the boys controlled the game very well throughout with Sam scoring direct from a corner then David’s looping effort beating the keeper to give us our first ever tournament win.
Game 3 was Lillington who always give us a tough game and the boys were well up for the challenge, Lillington scored quite early when we switched off and had another rightly ruled out, when it went through the side of the net. Some overly strong tackles on Sam then really got the boys fired up and we took the game to them when Leighton found space and got a great shot off from distance to beat the keeper. Unfortunately Lillington managed to score again right at the death and we lost a very closely fought game 2-1
Game 4 saw us take on Saracens in a very even game, Lawson kept a very cool head to slot home a 1on1 and give us the lead. Saracens fought back and some individual skill beat our defence for the equaliser, they pressed on and took another well worked opportunity to slide the ball passed Jimmy into the corner. A last throw of the dice saw us play a lovely ball for Josh to run on to, he was then taken down in the area to win us a penalty. We let the boys decide who would take the pen and Leighton stepped up coolly slotting home the equaliser with the very last kick of the game.

Very proud of the efforts today and the way the boys are starting to gel as a real team.
Jimmy- Fantastic in goal all day and still improving too! A joy to have around and a great addition to the team
Leighton- absolutely class all day today, played mainly in defence but was happy to fill in where needed and did a great job in all games. Attitude was flawless today.
Lawson- really starting to see big improvements in Lawson now, starting to Gel with the lads more and more each game and his positioning is improving too. Another great new addition for next season
Euan- did very well today in midfield with some great turns and through balls.
Sam- player of the tournament for me, got a bit disappointed starting the first game in defence as I know he wants to get further forward but after that he put in so much effort and was the real driving force of the team all day. Took a great corner for his goal and never shied away from any battle.
Josh- was fantastic, working really hard and being brave in his battles. Won us the penalty to earn us a draw too
David- was a rock today as always. Calm on the ball, always strong and fair at the same time and scored a great goal. Fitness is definitely improving too, a lot more higher intensity runs today did not go unnoticed
Billy- this was Billy’s second game for us but what a player we have here, could have had a couple today but the ball didn’t quite go in his favour. Works hard and communicates well. Definitely going to be a big part of next season.

Hope you all get to enjoy a nice rest for a while now. Next event is the Presentation followed by another tournament the following day
