Available for personal training and one to one swimming lessons at the Bedworth Physical Activity Hub. I am a 42 year old mum of 3 and a qualified Personal Trainer and Swimming Teacher. Through most of my adult life, I have been in and out of the fitness/health regime cycle that quite a lot of us are. But after having my 3rd child in 2020, I hit a turning point in my life. At this time, we were still in the midst of the covid pandemic and things were very different for all of us. It gave us time to reflect and re-evaluate how we live our life. So, with that in mind, after I had recovered from a C-section I began my journey to educating myself to be a fitter, healthier and happier version of me! I started with small steps… going for walks with my family etc, then I decided to try the couch to 5k which is where my passion for running was re-ignited, after many years out, which kickstarted me to where I am now. I downloaded the app and off I went. I think it took me slightly longer than 9 weeks to reach 5k as I got injured in the middle. But I persisted and eventually reached my goal – which was to be able to run 5k in 30 mins! In between that, I began doing some functional bodyweight exercises at home – just around 30 minutes at a time so didn’t take up of my day. I was hooked by this point, not only because I was seeing changes to my body shape, losing access baby weight and unwanted body fat, more importantly I was feeling better within myself as a person, improving my self-esteem and confidence. It was helping me deal with the stress and anxiety that comes with being a mum, which of course, was heightened by the pandemic situation. Obviously, nutrition plays a huge part in this regime, and for a long time now I believe myself to eat a balanced, healthy diet, although I do not deny myself treats now and then. After my maternity had ended and I went back to work, I made it one of my priorities to ensure that I made time for my fitness activities, even if it was just a quick half hour workout at home whilst the kids were in bed. Knowing how good it makes me feel physically and mentally, I would push other less important household chores to the back of my list, to ensure that I look after my own wellbeing. Since all this began, I have become interested in the relationship between physical activity and mental health. We all are aware of the physical benefits, but I think many people do not know how important it is for the mind also. In 2021 I qualified as a level 3 personal trainer and re-joined the health and fitness industry (having previously working in the industry in my 20’s) working at a health club as a team leader/personal trainer. During this time, I also had the opportunity to re-qualify as a Swimming Teacher – another passion of mine from a very young age. Swimming is a life skill, and I believe everyone should be given the opportunity to learn, not to mention the physical and mental health benefits that swimming can offer! In September 2022 I began setting up my own business, calling it Wet & Dry Swimming, Health, Fitness. The aim of the company is to promote and improve both mental health, as well as physical health/fitness, through fun & engaging activity for all ages, on both dry land & in water, while teaching valuable skills & knowledge that clients can take/continue to use for the rest of their lives- ie. A Life change, and improvement. Not just a “quick fix”
So here I am now, looking to promote/expand my business into the local area and reach as many individuals that need that motivation and encouragement, or to be taught those lifelong skills. Together, we will work on making sustainable life changes for you to become that fitter, healthier and happier version of yourself!
