Match report - 16/10/22

The Greenbacks were in league action at the weekend away at Chapelfield Colts.

In a feisty affair the boys started the game off well playing good football and dominating the game.

Using Charlie’s pace upfront, he had the beating of the defence multiple times and it wasn’t long before the Greenbacks took the lead.

The boys continued to pile the pressure on and Charlie put away his second before he had a goal ruled out harshly and then a penalty not given. Charlie completed his hat-trick before half time.

The second half continued in the same way with the Greenbacks dominating. An even more obvious penalty wasn’t given before Charlie completed the scoring and put his fourth away in the game.

Charlie didn’t stop running all game, terrorising the defence and put the ball in the back of the net.

Playing in his last game for the team, Alex put in a captains display in the heart of the defence, strong and confident on the ball!

Match Report - 9/10/22

The Greenbacks were back in league action away to a tough Cov Jag side.

The boys battled hard, knocked the ball around well but couldn’t take advantage of the chances that were created.

The second half was much like the first with the boys playing the ball well in midfield, creating chances and putting pressure on the opposition with lots of corners which we unable to capitalise on.

An absolute thunderstrike from Oscar from outside the box saw the Greenbacks pull a goal back.

This weeks star player was Oscar, he controlled the centre of midfield, had some great footwork and scored a superb goal.

The Greenbacks U12’s played in the first round of the cup competition away to Copeswood Lions.

After a tough start in the league the previous week, where Alex starred with a solid game at the back and scoring from the half way line, the team put in a fantastic display.

The boys started the game off well, by passing the ball well, pressuring the opposition and creating chances.

With the pressure the team were applying, we won quite a few corners. With Leon knocking the corners into the danger area, Oscar headed his first competitive goal for the team and put the boys 1-0.

In the second half Copeswood applied the pressure, but our defence was solid and was able to sniff out the danger.

Passing the ball around and playing Charlie through on goal, he had the pace and ability to beat the defence and put the boys 2-0 up.

More pressure from Copeswood, saw them score a well deserved goal. They came back more into the game as it went on and thanks to some great saves by Romeo, we were able to keep in the game. As they did press, once again by playing the ball through to Charlie who once again had the pace and ability to score his second and the teams third.

Special shout-out to Romeo who received high praise from the opposition coaches.

⭐️ Players:

This went to the whole team. Each boy played superb and fought hard for themselves, the club and their parents. It was a pleasure to see them play in the way that we know they are capable of and get a well deserved win
