Sandford School of Dance

Sandford School of Dance The Sandford School of Dance is a well established school in Bedford which offers the highest quality of training in a variety of dance styles.

Originally established in 1953, it became The Sylvia Bebb School of Ballet & Theatre Arts in 1980 and since that date it has expanded substantially. Sian Sandford was the senior assistant at the school for 19 years before becoming the Principal of Sandford School of Dance, teaching Modern, Tap and Jazz and choreographing festival routines. This included group dances which have gone on to compete and win in the Finals of the All England Dance Competition in London’s West End. The school hold regular RAD and ISTD examinations and students can also compete in numerous local dance festivals. Many pupils have gone on to gain entry into top dance and musical theatre colleges to further their training in order to achieve a career in the performing industry. Current and recently graduated pupils from the school are performing all over the world in roles such as Hortensia in Matilda in the West End (London) and as production dancer/aerialist on The Jewel for Norwegian Cruise Lines.

So many beautiful little milestones along the way of these dancers lives.

Each “first” is a little piece of a much bigger journey, and watching that journey unfold is so incredibly special. From those early days of discovering the joy of dance to standing proudly in their first pointe shoes, every moment is one to treasure. 💗

What an amazing afternoon watching Ziki in Grease: The Immersive Musical in London! 🎶🕺💃

She was absolutely brilliant — so incredibly proud of her! ❤️ What a fabulous show and such a brilliant concept. We even got up on the main stage four times! 🤩

One of our favourite moments was walking across the stage with Rizzo, Jan and the other pink ladies — it genuinely felt like we were part of the show! Such a fun and immersive experience from start to finish.

Enjoy your last two weeks in Grease, Ziki — you’re smashing it! ⭐️ We can’t wait to have you back teaching soon! ❤️

Elisa is heading off to dance college this September. ❤️
She will be studying for a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts and we are so excited to see her take this next step in her training and education.

Molly is currently busy rehearsing before boarding the ship on 16th October, where she’ll be sailing around the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Norwegian Fjords until April. 🌴☀️🇳🇴

A huge congratulations to Bernie who performed with the National Youth Ballet in Echoes of Tomorrow, which we had the pleasure of watching in Birmingham yesterday. ✨
She was absolutely excellent, and it was fantastic to see her perform so confidently on stage. The standard of the whole production was incredibly high, making it a truly impressive and inspiring performance.
