Great start to the first quarter of the year with many new students training.
Ju jitsu is a martial art from Japan that focuses on using the attackers force and strength against themselves. Practitioners use throws and locks to defend themselves in the street, or to defeat an opponent in competition.
Studying ju jitsu provides students with physical and mental benefits. Some of these benefits are common to all martial arts, while others are specific to training in this style.
It is more rigorous than many other martial arts, owing to the intensely physical nature of grappling. A typical session includes cardiovascular training, stretching, breathing work and a resistance workout; the latter is derived from working with a resisting opponent approximately your size.
These sessions build your strength and endurance, and increase flexibility. Ju jitsu students learn to throw, sweep and of balance each other, during most classes. To make it through training without injury of course!
Beginning students learn how to fall down without getting hurt and over regularly training are able to progress until it becomes a natural instinct. This training translates easily into life outside the dojo.
I have known people who have tripped over accidentally and probably under normal situations the person would have hurt themselves but due to the training have managed to fall without any major injuries.
"You're unlikely to ever have to use self defense techniques on an assailant, but rest assured you will have built up natural responses in your life for everyday trip and falls.
Just one of the benefits of training in a martial art like ju jitsu.
