It was the Eastern Masters Athletics Clubs Championships at Sandy track yesterday - Sunday 14th June.

A number of Bedford's Masters athletes were competing with considerable success.

Their performances included:

Jemma Eastwood 1st W45 Pole Vault
Bob Kingman 1st M50 Pole Vault
Glen Kerr 1st M50 Hammer, 4th M50 Shot

Richard Phelan 2nd M60 Pole Vault, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump
Oriana Johnson 1st W60 Shot, 3rd W60 Hammer, W60 Discus
Tennyson James 1st M65 100m Hurdles
Alex Swiecicki 1st M75 3000m (in a club record)

Additionally our 2nd Claim athletes who compete for Bedford in the EMAC League performed exceptionally well:

Success for Bedford's throwers at the 2026 Eastern Champs and Masters Throws Pent Champs 🥇

Several Bedford throwers made the journey to Cambridge for the Eastern Counties Championships. The weather was blisteringly hot, but everyone has been working incredibly hard in training, and their performances reflected that commitment, bringing home 5 medals and a Championship Record between them.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the age spectrum, our masters athletes travelled to Oxford for the British Masters Throws Pentathlon Championships, with Darren securing the win and Oriana putting in a strong performance to finish 5th.
