Canoe Trail is a multi award winning family-run business based on the River Great Ouse in Bedford. The team is made up of keen paddlers, at all levels of ability, with each member participating in the various aspects of paddling. We run British canoeing courses from personal paddling awards to instructor training and first aid . We also stock canoes, kayaks and SUP’s and paddling kit for people wa

nting to purchase their own equipment . We have a woodland campsite called Matchstick Woods where customers enjoy the peaceful settings of a rural woodland accessible from the River. Our woodland camping was voted Top 52 things to do in the world by Lonely Planet and top 3 in the Uk by Red Bull Magazine .We are based out of Kempston Outdoor Centre with a climbing wall, high ropes , archery and air gun ranges and more besides

We can tailor activities and paddling experience from a simple half-day through to multi-day or canoeing holidays. Further afield we run intro to moving water courses, best of Scotland and expeditions to the Jurassic Coast, Ontario and the mighty Yukon River.

✨ Good News Week ✨

Canoe Trail are excited to announce that we now have our very own vegetable patch!

Over the summer holidays, it’s been providing plenty of home-grown produce for our Adventure School programme, giving the children the chance to enjoy food that’s been grown right here on site.

We’re passionate about using locally sourced food wherever possible, so we’re thrilled to be able to grow some of our own produce in-house too! It’s been fantastic to see our little vegetable patch flourish and we can’t wait to see what we grow next!

🚨 NEXT WEEK - Kayaking Level 1 🚨

Learn the basics with our step by step beginner course, spread across 3 simple sessions over 3 weeks. You’ll build confidence on the water while learning everything from using your equipment to what to do if you capsize.

📅 Thursdays: 10th, 17th & 24th September
🕡 6:30pm–8pm
📍 Kempston Outdoor Centre

Each session is just 90 minutes, keeping things relaxed and manageable while you build your skills week by week. Once you've completed the 3 lessons, you'll recieve a free half day hire session!
