What a way to end a long week! Today we were visited by Bav Shah, the current High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, along with some parents and guardians of the young people we've been working with over the past few months. Several young participants from Time2Train and RESOLUTION Dying to Belong also joined us, where they’ve been mentored by the Alternative Education team, active at the academy for the past year.
The involvement of parents and guardians working closely with the Alternative Education team at Samsons Academy has been crucial. Without their support, the risk of failure would have been far higher. Thankfully, this hasn’t been the case. All young people referred to the Education Team are also supported by our in-house therapy team, which works closely with the Community Engagement team.
We will be taking four weeks to review all our intervention processes with our auditor, who will again consult with parents, participants, and key stakeholders. A parent’s comment today filled us with pride, acknowledging the team’s effort in changing young lives for the better.
Special thanks go to PC 503 Sam Robinson, whose dedication has made a massive difference in preventing young people from slipping through the cracks. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Sam.
Lastly, thank you, Bav, for visiting. Despite wearing 17th-century attire, you were incredibly down-to-earth and approachable. The only man permitted to carry a sword—yes, a sword! So, to all the roadmen and gyal, take note: your life doesn’t have to be about this. Also no forgetting the input from MMAX gym, Denniston Sutherland an Zoe Habib two totally amazing instructors who supported the young people along their journey.
