Now that the dust has settled from the weekend — and what a weekend it was — our focus shifts to the new season, which is fast approaching.

Over time, we’ve worked hard to improve the ground and square with the limited resources available to us. With that in mind, we’ve made the difficult decision to rotate the square (we thought, if Lancashire can do it, why can’t we!).

The new setup means the shortest boundaries for right-handers will now be at cow corner at both ends. It should also reward edges, with a much shorter third boundary behind the slip cordon.

As a newly promoted side, we’re looking to make marginal gains wherever possible, and we believe this change will play to our strengths as a team.

Stay tuned to follow our progress as we make this radical change.

What a few days… 🧡

We’re blown away by the support. Every step, every message, every donation has meant everything.

Together, we’ve raised well over £5,000 for MS Society Hambleton and Richmondshire Group MS Society UK —money that will make a real difference.

The journey:
• 1,000+ km collectively traveled on foot
• 7 Lower Wensleydale darts and domino league pubs
• 5 Wensleydale Evening Cricket League cricket grounds
• 1 unbelievable effort bought together by our Team mate and friend John Love 🧡

Tired legs, full hearts—and a cause worth every step.

Thank you. Truly.

There’s still time to donate:

Date for your diaries 27th and 28th March

John Love, who is a much loved member of the cricket club was diagnosed earlier this year with MS. John and his family are receiving support from MS Society Hambleton and Richmondshire Group and MS Society UK. As a cricket club and The Bay Horse Crakehall sports teams we want to raise funds for them to support the excellent work they undertake, in John’s honour.

As such we are undertaking a fundraising walk between the cricket grounds in the Nidderdale League who were original members of the Wensleydale Cricket League along with Crakehall. This will take place over the 27th and 28th March 2026, starting and finishing in Crakehall, and as well as the walk we are running a raffle and also an auction of donated lots – so far we have a signed ball from Ben Stokes, a signed book from Andrew Flintoff, and a framed signed programme from the 2010 Open Championship from winner Louis Oosthuizen among various other items.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
