On Sunday, our senior team hosted their home tournament, bringing their season to a close with no further fixtures remaining. With a small squad and three games scheduled, it was always going to be a challenging day for the team.
The tournament got off to a strong start with a convincing 13–3 win over Colchester.
The second match saw the team face a young ECU boys side. Their quick passing proved difficult to contain at times as fatigue began to set in. It was a closely contested game throughout, but the team narrowly lost 9–7.
The final game was against CCRHC and, as expected, it was a physical and competitive encounter with both sides determined to secure a win. The match remained tight from start to finish, eventually ending in a 7–7 draw — a fair result that saw both teams earn a well-deserved point.
At present, we sit top of the league. However, with other teams still having games to play, our final position may yet change.
Top goal scorer (for the second consecutive season): Liam Hanley
Most improved player: Ben Kisby, who in his first ever competitive season, made a strong impact throughout, contributing goals and playing a key role in helping the team secure results.
Player of the season: Gavin Lambert who has
made some excellent saves in all tournaments and has been really consistent in training proving hard to beat.
