Great day on the loop yesterday being coached by Andy Bonney. Lot’s to take away from the day and a complete change of style is on the cards. If you’ve seen Andy paddle, you’ll know that seemingly effortless style. But like a duck on water, there is so much going on underneath. A very insightful and thought provoking day. Thanks Andy for an eye opening (and on stalks) day. Photos of Andy styling it through triple falls. 💦😁💦

Hi Paddlers. If coming over the moor this morning, just be warned it’s getting bad from Two Bridges across to Newbridge. It’s funny but Buckfastleigh and Tiverton are dead clear. Have a great paddle wherever you are today. 💦😁💦

First of the new kit. Thanks to Andi of DamX Watersports. Such good kit that my last suit lasted 18 years. 💦😁💦

Ok. So a bit of an honest chat with myself today about my personal paddling and my coaching ambitions. An honest chat with yourself is a bit of a pill to swallow sometimes, but I’m going to go a step further and share it with you. Have had a fair few years away from kayaking and thought in all honesty, that I could just pick up where I left off. Running grade 4 on sight, getting down fives with a little eye balling and the odd portage. But life rolls on and your ability only lives in your head if you don’t keep your skills up. So I’ve taken the decision to really go to town and develop my own paddling to the level I want it to be at. I’ll still keep you all posted as to how it’s going and where I’m at. But there it is. Obviously disappointed with myself, but plans are in action. 💦😁💦

First time on the Dart for 22 years and humbled twice by the river. But the river gods were kind to me and took no offerings. Superb addition with the Salmons Leap Cafe. Thanks to Jim, Julia and Owen for a good day out. Angels on my shoulders. 💦😁💦

Pleased, well chuffed to bits actually, that Martyn Paul Steele is coming onboard. A truly great friend of mine that has paddled some epic rivers. Have some awesome memories of some of the rivers we’ve paddled together. A solid technical paddler and an angel on my shoulder.

Hi all. And so the Kayak Dream continues. Those that have known me long enough know the plans and dreams. For those that don’t, I just want to introduce people into this awesome sport and the environment it takes place in. So to put my first post on: Today I’ve just been playing around on the Bude Canal grooving my strokes. A superb setting here. Not thirty feet away, this lovely gentleman, Geoff, caught this beautiful 19 pound Carp after a 15 minute play on very light tackle. If only everyone was willing to share water space, what a better world it would be huh.
