Five weeks ago I broke my leg. And no, I didn't break it demonstrating a yoga pose!
Keeping this short and sweet (you all know who you are), I want to thank those who stepped up to make Mark's and my life a lot easier over the past few weeks...
A wonderful yogi and friend has cooked us endless vegetarian meals and stocked up our freezer. She is really the star of the show for us! Without her we would have descended into the world of frozen pizzas and oven chips. And we all know what we put in our body is the greatest help in healing. Many friends and yogis walked our dogs, fetched wood, helped with lifts, gave me treatments to help the healing, etc.
I decided to continue to teach, returning to the studio 4 days after the accident. This was not only to keep the classes going and to not abandon the AMAZING, talented yogis that I see every week, but to also keep my mental health in check. I've yet to succumb to daytime TV or sleeping! Teaching in a chair with my leg elevated has been exactly the right medicine for me, mentally and physically. It hasn't come without challenges, but everyone attending my classes has been kind, considerate, and patient, enabling me get off the sofa and do what I enjoy doing so much (but without the postures!). A special thanks goes out to the two people who joined my classes for the first time AFTER I broke my leg! I salute your bravery and thank you for your patience.
Mark and I have both felt we are surrounded by wonderful people and great energy. Even though I sit and mope on occasion and curse my predicament, I honestly couldn't have asked for better people to be around me. So a big BIG thank you to everyone, for everything you have done to help me through this; whether that be chores or favours, or just continuing to come along to classes. Without all of you this slow journey to recover would have been much more tedious and tearful for me.
Thank you. ###
