Last weekend we were joined by Edge Progressive Paddling for a sea kayaking skills and exploration weekend on the Jurassic Coast.

Day one saw us based around Old Harry Rocks, working on boat handling, confidence and making the most of the area's incredible caves, arches and coastline. Day two moved across to Kimmeridge Bay, where the firing ranges changed our original plans, but still delivered some fantastic paddling, plenty of smiles and a few curious seals along the way.

To round the weekend off, we even had a low-level flypast from the Royal Marines heading out to investigate that Russian tanker making the headlines. Not your average coaching weekend!

The last paddle of May saw us take our friends from Falcon Canoe Club out to explore the Purbeck coastline.

Sunshine, seals, a few fun sets rolling through, and plenty of laughs along the way. After exploring beneath Old Harry Rocks, we tucked into calmer water to play around with balance, confidence and self-rescue skills, including standing on kayaks, climbing over boats and getting thoroughly wet in the process!

Slowly but surely catching up on some photos...!

Over the last May Bank Holiday weekend, I took a great group of paddlers out for an open sea kayaking day, exploring the stunning coastline between Kimmeridge Bay and Warbarrow Bay. From weaving through rock gardens to soaking up the sunshine on a perfect bank holiday!

Slowly catching up on some of our adventures from the last couple of weeks...

Almost a week and a half ago, we welcomed members of Hemel Hempstead Canoe Club to the Jurassic Coast for a fantastic weekend of sea kayaking.

Day one saw us exploring Old Harry Rocks, developing core sea kayak skills and transferring existing paddlesport experience into a coastal environment. On day two, we headed to Kimmeridge, putting those skills into practice amongst the rock gardens and along the stunning coastline towards Worbarrow Bay.

A brilliant effort from the whole team, plenty of learning, plenty of laughs, and a perfect way to spend a scorcher of a May bank holiday weekend on the water.

Throwing it back to just over a week ago where we ran one of our popular Intro to Sea Kayaking sessions on the Beaulieu River.

We had a brilliant group who got stuck into their first taste of sea kayaking! Building confidence, learning the basics and finishing off with a play around with a few rescues.

If you’ve been thinking about giving sea kayaking a go, we’ve got stacks of Intro sessions running across the year, check them out on the website and come join us.

Catching up on socials after a busy week… so throwing it back to last Friday 👌

Adrian and Dean joined me for a private guided sea kayak day around Old Harry Rocks, making the most of the conditions we had available. We spent the morning weaving through the rock gardens, playing with the flows and finding some fun little routes before the flood turned and those conditions disappeared.

We then headed over towards Ballard Down for a bit more exploring along the cliffs and were lucky enough to spot a seal and pup along the way 🦭

A really nice day on the water and it's safe to say this week’s weather has finally brought the t-shirt and shorts paddling season with it ☀️

A brilliant couple of days on the water with the crew from Milton Keynes Canoe Club this weekend!

Day one was spent exploring the rocky playgrounds around Kimmeridge, working on boat handling, confidence in the rocks, stroke choices and finding some brilliant little routes through one of the Jurassic Coast’s more playful rock gardens. Plenty of smiles, a few spicy moments and some really nice progress from the team throughout the day.

With the wind building for day two, we tucked ourselves away into Poole Harbour for a shorter skills-focused session looking at wind management, trim, effective stroke choices and rescue drills. Different conditions, different challenges, but another really solid effort from everyone involved.

A really fun weekend on the water with a great bunch of paddlers! 🌊🛶

West Coast Wonders week 2 finished in a pretty awesome way… with a sunset paddle straight from our wild camp on Lismore.

After a full day on the water, we’d already pitched camp, unloaded the boats, sorted food, and settled in for the evening… but when Scotland looks like this, sitting still never really lasts very long! So just before sunset, we launched straight back out from camp for a short blast down towards Castle Coeffin for one last explore.

Glassy water, golden light, seals everywhere, two minke whales surfacing nearby, birds flying overhead, and the sun dropping behind Mull while we explored the coastline and castle ruins… one of those evenings that just didn’t quite feel real.

We eventually paddled back to camp in the fading light, got the fire going, and wrapped up an absolutely incredible week on Scotland’s west coast.

2027 dates are now online!

West Coast Wonders week 2, days 3 & 4 were all about switching into camping mode… loading the boats, leaving the mainland behind, and setting off on a two-day paddle towards Lismore.

We kicked things off exploring around Shuna Island before pushing on towards the northern shores and skerries of Lismore, making the absolute most of Scotland’s rare calm window as we island hopped, explored hidden corners, and slowly worked our way towards an incredible wild camp spot for the night. Big miles, stunning scenery, and a shoreline all to ourselves made for a pretty special evening.

With camp set, boats unloaded, and dinner sorted, we made the most of it properly… heading back out for a sunset paddle because conditions like this in Scotland don’t come around often.

After a night under some unreal skies, day two brought more exploring, more stunning scenery, and just enough of a weather shift to remind us we couldn’t stay forever... so we packed down, got back on the water, and beat the weather back to the mainland.

A proper little adventure, and a big reminder that sometimes the best trips are the ones where you load the boats, disappear for a night, and fully embrace the journey.

West Coast Wonders week 2, day 2 took us back to Arisaig… but this time with a slightly different plan.

We kicked things off exploring the south coast of Arisaig, weaving through inlets, rock gardens, and some seriously fun little features that made the absolute most of the rare calm conditions. Then, after a full morning of coastal exploring, we spent the afternoon back out in the Arisaig skerries, soaking up more white sand, turquoise water, and scenery that still barely feels real for Scotland.

After a big opening day around Kerrera, Arisaig delivered a completely different kind of adventure. Less about big miles, more about exploring every hidden corner we could find. Conditions like this don’t come around often up here, so week 2 was all about making the most of every single one.

Not every Scottish adventure has to be wild to be unforgettable!
