I teach a variety of people from beginners to more experienced riders and I have a focus on position and 'back to basics' work for both horse and rider to fix any problems they may have. I always try to make each lesson as fun and engaging as possible and explain the reasons behind everything I teach. I tailor each lesson to the individual horse and rider to help them to reach their goals and increase their confidence when riding. I offer group tuition for up to 3 or 4 people depending on ability and schooling area size. I offer a riding and schooling service for horses and ponies over 11.2hh. Please contact me for more information. Also available for clinics - dressage, jumping, working equitation at your yard or at a hired venue. I am also a trainee course designer for the BSJA.

Today at Fairoak Grange we held a Training Competition for everyone. It was a great day, mostly avoiding the rain! Fabulous turnout and lots of people attending their first WE competition as well as some old faces making the journey.
Some really good riding, especially at the bridge which suited the training set up well with the riders having plenty of time to get over it and help if needed. Everyone got the chance to work on their nerves in full kit and full coaching support (and fellow competitor support!) and got round all the obstacles. So proud of you all!

Everyone rode so well and we all had a lovely day. The walk and trot all on level points going into the speed!

I'm so happy you all came and gave it a go and hopefully we'll run another training comp next year!

Results below!
Pics will be available from the wonderful Joe Gros
Thanks to Carol Atkins for judging, and to all competitors for coming!

What a busy day! Left at 7am to go to a driving competition with four different turnouts, three of which haven't been out to a competition before.
The day was filled with so many harness changes and bits of vehicle changes for the team.
The team did brilliantly and got a double clear in cones, and went clear and increasingly fast in the obstacles, even with some amusing directional decisions.
One of the tandems also had its first outing and did brilliant obstacles, but a little bit of trouble in cones with an unfortunate fluke tongue over bit moment with the most sensitive pony. After that was sorted the cones drove beautifully.
Sarah's brilliant multiples turnouts came 2nd (team) and 3rd (tandem) thanks to some fantastic driving and brave ponies.
Our third turnout was Gab a junior who has had a wildly busy half term. She had the most experienced pony who was very cross about the changed format for the event but pulled a clear cones and fast obstacles with a very unfortunate ball down. She drove amazingly well in some real midday heat and ended 4th in Novice Pony!
I had the final turnout, with the baby pony who was having a nice day out to further her training. She has been in the big carriage twice before, hasn't been in an arena by herself before, done cones or obstacles by herself before, and really hasn't done much single work.SShe went clear in the cones and really started pulling into draught which was fantastic. Her obstacles were slow but smooth and she gained so much confidence that by obstacle 4 she even offered some canter on a few tighter turns which was great. I had the fun of Sarah as my backstep which was very entertaining and meant we had quite a nice chat as we went round 😂
All in all an incrediblybbusy day! If we weren't driving or back stepping we were changing harness or bits of carriage! A really wonderful day and lovely to come back with a rosette for each turnout.

Hanna will be off to her first Working Equitation competition tomorrow. She went SJ at Rectory on Thursday and had a lovely double clear with Tiana as I'm very much not fit enough for SJ yet post surgery.

Hanna had a bath and I somehow managed to get "plaits" into her mane. She has the thickest coarsest mane ever and plaiting it is always a nightmare. It's not long enough for a running plait and too long for neat eventing plaits. It's too bouncy at the moment for dressage roses so I've basically just smushed it up into awful lumpy plaits in the middle. The top and bottom plaits are lovely - especially where her mane has been rubbed thin! Perfect!
She has a very nice forelock plait that no one will see because she'll have a hat on.

Hoping the wind dies down by tomorrow morning so I can get the trailer out safely.

Hoping she enjoys the day out and doesn't run out of hay!

Little pic of my gate in the arena today in gale force winds. So glad I built it nice and solid because it stood up no problem and survived Hanna trying to eat it.
