Last match of the Summer League last night for Fire and despite some really great play, it wasn’t a win for us! Well done Storm 👏🏼

Everyone played really well and we already know what we need to work on over the Summer! Flame still have a few more matches, then we’ll be on to Versatility before wrapping up competitive play until September!

Phoenix Flame (20) v Hellbent Thunder (33)

Match report by Beth

Considering how little time Flame have been playing as a team, being formed only since September, Flame are improving each week and really finding their groove as a team.

Score last week was 33 - 20 to Thunder but the first quarter was a draw and only dropped 2 goals in the second, the team kept going and it was a great game to watch.

Pheebs you were on fire with some simply outstanding shooting this evening and Alice when you believe in yourself you’re fantastic with some great goals. You both did some great drives when it was a struggle to get the ball into the D.

Lorelei and Loz, your play mid court was fab - I don’t know how you both stayed so energetic! Lorelei, your spacing was superb, you seemed to always get free and Loz, you really helped to work the ball from one end to the other!

Sharon, Laura and Alice (thank you for supporting!), you all got some great interceptions and tips on the ball and never game up! They had some quick, sneaking attackers but you held your own and I think you were just unlucky towards the end! It’s also difficult playing out of position and takes time to find your groove again after a swap around!

Despite being a little bit bunchy at times and running a million miles an hour, you all played amazingly and should be super proud of yourselves tonight! Well done ladies 👏🏼

Phoenix Fire won 18-15 to rebels 🔥

We played some really good netball tonight and also some things to work on! Really proud of everyone that we didn’t give up and was ahead the whole time!!

Chi and Lisa so great to watch the partnership you 2 have created! Brilliant defending guys 👏🏼

Anna and Chloe you both really helped get that ball down and some really good attacking movements and spacing.

Beth felt like you was majority of the time in a space or if you wasn’t your double dodges were so good! Great feeding into the D as well 🔥

Steph and myself thought we worked well together creating space in the D and little sneaky passes every now and again 😂

I enjoy playing with you all and so glad we got that win 🔥 onto the next 💪🏼

Whether you’re looking to train/play for fun or fancy playing more competitively, Phoenix Netball Club offers both opportunities.

We have two teams playing in the Hastings League on Wednesday nights at Claverham Community College, Battle. We’re always looking for new players who might be interested!

Then of course, we have training every Tuesday evening (all year round). Currently we’re training from 7-8:30pm at Helenswood Sports Centre. Our lovely coach Di takes us through a fun warm up, some drills and we always finish with some game time.

Everyone is super friendly, so no matter your ability, you’re welcome to join us and see what Phoenix is all about!

Our first Division 1 game and we only went and won! 19-17 and what a game it was! 🔥

Match report from Lucy -

We won! We bloody well beat Lightning! They’re the third best team in the first division and I thought they were going to thrash us! 19/17 to us. We got ahead in the last quarter, it was only slightly stressful! Zo and Steph, you did SO well under the pressure. Their defenders are savage (in a nice way) and very very good, we moved the ball so well round the D to get it in. I am so proud of us! There was a lot of cheering at the end of the match when we realised we’d won.

Steph, Alice and Zo, you were the best. Lightning have fantastic defenders, they really made us work at it but we did it. In a nice way, if every attempt had been a goal we’d probably have doubled our score. You should be so pleased with yourselves, it was so good.

Beth, I’m so glad you joined Phoenix. It feels likes you’ve been playing with us forever. You’re such a strong and versatile player, your cheeky sneaky bounce passes are so good at getting the ball into the D.

Chi, Sam and Lisa, you did us proud, as always. You intercepted and turned over the ball so many times, there’s no chance we’d have even got half points without you. Chi, even though you looked like you were dying in the last quarter you intercepted nearly all the balls that came into the D. An extra well done for giving it your all right to the end - Steph, your Percy Pigs definitely gave us all the boost we needed!

Well done everyone. I can’t believe we won!

Lucy, you also played brilliantly, 3 changes to their Centre player and you gave them all a run for their money and brought the ball back down the court beautifully.

Let’s go Phoenix! 🔥 we have a break next week but back on the 15th against Hastings Hunters, who came second in the Winter League so another tough game ahead!

Introducing ‘What Our Members Say…’

Phoenix is a super inclusive, friendly club whether you’re looking to join for fitness or to play competitively, so we think the best way to show you this is to hear from our members directly. Each week, we’ll post a little comment from a different member so you can get a feel for Phoenix as a club!

Kickstarting is our lovely Lucy, who is our committee Chair Person, affiliated player and member of Phoenix. Lucy does so much for the club and you instantly know she has so much love for Phoenix and its members, even if she does usually rock up to training covered in paint from head to toe (sorry for outing you Luc 😅) but we wouldn’t be without her and she certainly feels the same about Phoenix 🫶🏼

Tonight was our final game for the Winter League and the pressure was on, as this game was the decider as to who goes up into Division 1 for the Summer.

The pressure definitely got to us and it wasn’t our best played game this season, but a win is a win and we’ll be moving into Division 1 from next week - eeeek! 👏🏼

We won! 24/14!

Chi, Lisa and Sam’s (especially Sam’s), defending was amazing. They all had so many tips. And Sam had so many interceptions it was brilliant.

In the attacking third we let Rebels get into our heads with some not so great feeds into the D and trying to play too quickly. Nevertheless Steph and Zo, got some fab shots and rebounds once we’d all warmed up a little.

Alice, joined us for the last quarter which is never the best after standing in the cold, but she did so well and really held her space against Rebels very good defenders.

Winning means we’re going up with Hellbent Lightening as our first game next week, we’re ready to up our game for the Summer! 💪🏼

Fantastic win against Storm this evening! 31 to 13! And what a game!

Everyone played so well! Di’s drills have been working in training, our defending across the whole court was superb! It made such a difference. If we did fumble a ball, we often got it back.

Claire did so well holding her own and getting some amazing goals. Steph’s shooting was on point! So many swished straight in!

Chi, Lisa and Sam, their marking was brilliant, lots of hunting! Their spacing was also superb and working really well together for a super strong defence. There was an occasion it went to back line then all the way up the court and into the goal, it was too good!

Beth and Anna’s movement round the D was awesome, they didn’t force the ball in and relied on being able to pass it back. It worked so well.

Well done everyone and thank you to our fabulous subs and spectators cheering us on from the sidelines.
