A response was needed after last week’s final, and that’s exactly what we delivered. Short on numbers, but not short on quality or character. A trip out in proper Sunday League conditions, wind, rain, sunshine and hailstones all in the space of 90 minutes.

Started sharp and set the tone early. Ahmed opened things up with an absolute screamer into the top right corner – no saving that anywhere. From there, the confidence grew. Zaid and Shob linked up beautifully for the second, one-touch football cut straight through them. Then Awab stepped up and buried one with his left (finally) leaving the keeper frozen on the spot.

Control, composure and quality all over the pitch. Second half, we kept it ticking. Ahmed grabbed his second with a calm finish, and Shob topped off a strong performance with a well-earned goal. Game managed properly, chances taken, job done.

(We’ll ignore the last-minute bozo moment from the keeper… one of those things 😅)

Onto Thursday as we take on second in the table, Dewsbury United 👊

Sands Lane. Another tough test and another three points on the board. Not our most fluent performance, but when it mattered, we delivered. A proper battle against Whitwood, but we stayed composed, took our chances and got the job done.

Zaid with the swivel and a perfectly weighted through ball to send Ahmed through for 1–0. Moments later, Lamin’s corner met Lakha’s head to double the lead going into the break. Second half saw the tempo dip slightly and Whitwood pulled one back late, but the result never looked in doubt. Game managed well. Three points secured.

MOTM:
🏆

Midfield metronome. Always available, always composed. Picks the right pass, sets the tempo and keeps everything ticking. When others rush, he resets. When the game needs control, he provided, quietly running the show.

A proper away-day battle on a lovely astro surface against a side sitting 2nd in the table. Last time out they knocked us out of the cup earlier in the season giving the lads extra motivation to bring 3 points home.

It didn’t start our way. We missed a couple early chances and found ourselves 2–0 down, but this team doesn’t fold. Heads stayed up, belief stayed strong and the comeback was on in the second half. The breakthrough came late with Zaid firing home in the 88th minute to spark belief. Then in the 91st minute… scenes. Awab pops up with the winner and the away end erupts.

Shoutout to Spidey who had their players and fans rattled all game, setting the tone and keeping the pressure on. On the receiving end of abuse all game, but still putting on a show.

Man of the match went to Hamzah Lakha. Calm, composed and assured when it mattered most. Controlled the game, made the right decisions under pressure and showed real maturity throughout.

Massive thanks to everyone who travelled to support us, you pushed the boys right until the end.

From 2–0 down to 3–2 up. Up to 2nd in the league.
