Fantastic work from everyone at the black belt grading today. It was a very grueling test covering kihon, kata, pad work and kumite. Everyone should be very proud of their progress and achievements.

We had a mix of students earning Shodan, Nidan and Yondan.

Last Monday we had a bit of kata review towards the end of class. We can spend a lot of time working on the pads but it is just as important to keep on top of the traditional aspects of the syllabus.

Congratulations on a brilliant Shodan grading yesterday! Everyone performed fantastic and worked very hard, displaying kihon, kata and kumite aspects of the syllabus with great spirit and technique. Be proud of your achievements and wear those black belts with pride.

Although obtaining a Black Belt is often a goal for many, Shodan is the beginning of a longer journey. The fun starts now, keep at it and enjoy the deeper learning to come.

Congratulations to everyone who graded today. It was a fantastic afternoon with a great display of ability.

Bank Holiday Reminder and Updates:

With it being bank holiday there is no training today at Horbury or tomorrow at Batley. Horbury resumes on Wednesday 31st Aug and Batley the following Monday 5th Sep.

The next Grading is getting closer. Use the available lessons in September to make sure you are ready for consideration, attendance and mentality/discipline are as much a part of the journey as the physicality/technique is.
It is almost impossible to practice everyones kata, kihon and kumite in class. You are expected to keep up with your kata and will be asked to demonstrate a random previous kata in the grading. Practice at home, watch videos and get to session early to practice etc.

Our new booking system should be up and running shortly, allowing multiple people to be booked in at once. This is great for families and automatically generates a discount for the booking.
In the future with the new system it will also be possible to book weekly/monthly training passes enabling training at all sessions.
More details on the booking system will follow as the update goes live.

Whilst the focus is turning to the grading, we still welcome new students. If you are interested in joining simply message, call or visit the website www.wyska.co.uk for more info.

Have a fantastic bank holiday

Changes to our Batley classes!

From Monday 6th June, our Batley classes will be running 6.30-8.00PM.

This change has been made after feedback from students and much discussion within the instructor group.
We are a small club and want to do the best by our students and instructors. By starting and finishing slightly earlier we hope to give everyone a little more time after training to eat, be with family and generally do what needs to be done.

For those who might struggle to make it on time due to work and other commitments, we completely understand. Please let me or any of the other instructor group know so that we can accommodate the best we can (it may be as simple as you warm yourself up etc).

All the best

John
