U12 lions 3-0 Wyke whites

What a performance from everyone.
From the back cohen was solid and made some very impressive saves under intense pressure. Covered by a solid defence who commanded their line and stopped the attack with everything they had, Darren showed his strength and ability to not only defend but get forward for a corner and score with a brilliant header which was whipped in by the impressive Lucas. Our midfield were very dominant and showed great resilience while winning 1st and second balls. Millie and George in turn both holding that CDM role to great success. Captain Bobby was outstanding and vocal to keep the team going throughout. Lucas with an impressive display and carrying on from last season by scoring 2 goals with 1 assist. Upfront oli was determined to cause havoc with the Wyke defence and did so with great energy.
Overall this was a very impressive performance from a team that haven’t had much time to prepare but showed how staying together and helping fight for everything pays off.

What a fantastic team performance from the Tigers today! We are proud of all of the players.

We went ahead early on with Alfie’s goal and then we had other chances to push ahead.

Opposition player of the match - Oliver, who made some great saves and showed a calmness at the back at times that the game was stretched.

Tigers player of the match - Freya, who had a fantastic debut and made fantastic runs and showed that she could matched the physicality of the opposition.

We are so proud of everyone. What an encouraging start to the season.

🟠⚫️ 2026/27 — OFF TO A FLYER! 🟠⚫️

What a performance that was this morning! Exactly the start to the season we asked for and, after working so hard throughout pre-season, they really showed what they’ve been learning.

A huge focus for us has been using our eyes and our brains and letting the ball do the work — and today, they did exactly that.

Playing out from the back, they were confident and brave. Heads up, looking for teammates, making decisions and working the ball up the pitch. At times, we played some absolutely lovely football and we couldn’t be any prouder.

There was one move in particular that summed up everything we’ve been working on. James played the ball down the right to Freddie, he then made a run into the box. Freddie then beat a player, glanced up and calmly slipped a through ball straight back to James.

And it wasn’t just one moment — it was happening all over the pitch. Brilliant football and exactly what we’ve been asking for. 👏

⭐ POTM — ARTHUR SWEENEY ⭐

Arthur played a much more attacking role today than his usual defensive position and looked calm and composed throughout. He wasn’t afraid to run at players, but also showed great intelligence in knowing when to take a different route.

Two excellent goals were the reward for a fantastic performance. ⚽⚽

What a fantastic result for our first game of the 26/27 season. Credit to Marsden who we always have a good competitive game against with this result going in our favour.

I thought the first 10 mins in both halves of the game we started off slow but really grew into/back into the game fantastically. Every player on the pitch today was absolutely outstanding and brought something special with Roman captaining the team.

Some absolutely outstanding saves by Tyler as always kept us in the game. The rotating defense of Jack, Zander, Noah and Josh A was strong throughout and was really pleasing to see. Roman and Orlaith paired together just sat in front of the back 3 worked amazing and both of them created some perfect attacking passes for our midfield to drive the ball up. Jake, Alfie, Elliot and Thomas worked brilliantly together in the midfield to consistently drive us forward and Lucas up top was absolutely outstanding.

Lucas was a hatrick hero today but his last goal was absolutelt fantastic, Thomas also got his name on the score sheet on his debut with the team - huge well done to both and credit to the whole team for helping them create their goals.

🟠⚫️ U8 TIGERS — FINAL FRIENDLY BEFORE THE 26/27 SEASON! 🟠⚫️

WHAT. A. PERFORMANCE! 🔥

Today’s performance was, without a doubt, the best this group have ever produced! Everything we’ve been working on in training was there for all to see, and the progress these players are making is incredible.

From GK to attack, we were confident and assured on the ball. We showed the belief to get our foot on it and understood when it was the right time to drive forward — and when it wasn’t, we found the right pass. 👏

Off the ball, we found space, made the right runs at the right time and created some fantastic opportunities in front of goal. In reality, we could have scored plenty more, but the coaches stressed from minute one that the result and goals were not the objective today.

The objective was simple: take everything we’ve been working on in training and put it into practice in a matchday environment.

And that objective was absolutely SMASHED out of the park! 💥

Every single player who stepped onto that pitch today should walk away with their head held high. The effort, confidence, understanding and teamwork on display were OUTSTANDING! 👏🧡

🏆 POTM — JAMES OLDROYD 🏆

What a performance from James today — probably the best we’ve seen from this young man on the pitch!

He was confident on the ball, made intelligent decisions, drove at players, used his skills brilliantly to get out of tricky situations and made some fantastic runs into space.

He was incredibly unlucky not to get himself on the scoresheet, but with performances like that, we’re sure it won’t be long! ⚽️

Well done, James! 👏

And with that, pre-season is officially DONE! ✅
