Weekend MADE!

I reckon all good parents find themselves questioning if they are actually a good parent.
If what they are doing is enough, if they could be better.

I’ve had this conversation so many times with parents in my team, because it comes up all the time.

My answer is simple,

Often if you are asking the question, it means you are.

Those parents who are bad, unfit to be one, will never question themselves like that. It probably doesn’t even register on their radar.

The thing is, if you are a good parent. You’ve likely heard it before. Whether thats from your other half, friends, family. At some point someone has said or mentioned you are great.

We often just shake it off, as we expect nothing less of ourselves.

But we long to hear it from the source right?

Well I got my weekend, in fact year to date made!

Out working on the bike with H, he is cleaning away because,

“The bike has to be clean Dad, people will say WOW when they see it”

As I’m figuring out some wiring, he without even looking at me says out of nowhere,

“You’re a Great Dad”

That was it.

Had tears in my eyes. I’m telling this because I’m proud..

Because even when we are in seasons of our lives when we may feel like we are failing in areas, or not at our best.

It doesn’t mean you’re not doing your best for those who matter most.

We can get caught up in waves of life and expectations we set or feel have set for us, we can miss what truly counts.

So, just a reminder, to all those parents out there wondering if they are actually good parents.

Im hedging my bets you are! Keep being you! Keep showing up for them 🤜🤛

Less is often more 🤝

Us men are simple creatures really, we can be fooled into thinking we need so much more.

Reality is we don’t.

4 mates.
1 Fire.
Good Food.
Good Chat.
Good Music.

Cleanses the soul.

It’s not about where you are, it’s about who you’re with.

Surround yourself with people who support you, back you and want to see you win 🤜🤛

Make sure you repay it.

Here’s to more nights like this and the families included 🤝

If you’re gonna do it.

DO IT.

I got a little amped up mid session this morning talking about this exact point 😂

In a world of social media that has this kinda of fitness/influencing inflation, some goals you have can almost seem small, small enough we almost demerit them ourselves before we even do it.

If you’ve never ran before, doing a 5k is huge!

A Half Marathon? Full Marathon? Hyrox? Any for of Fitness Event?

Unbelievable.

Reality is the majority of the world aren’t doing these things.

But I stand by 1 thing. I make sure my team does too.

Regardless of what you do, whatever challenge you set out for yourself.

Give it “your” 100%

Don’t sign up for a Half Marathon, do no training at all until 4 weeks before and then walk half of it.

Your result, your time, your outcome. It really doesn’t matter.

What matters is knowing you tried your best, you actually gave it your best.

You might have things you now realise you could do better, thats one thing.

But don’t finish it consciously knowing, you could have done better and chose not too.

So if you are going to commit yourself, then do the work.

Because the feeling you get after doing so?

The result doesn’t matter, because the character in you changes, the self respect in you changes.

Thats what really matters.

So in the words of the wise Matthew McConaughey

If you are going to do it. Do it.

Don’t Half Ass it.

Chatting to a client this week brought out the term,

Be Flexible, Not Fragile.

The thing I’ve notice so much in the parents I’ve coached is, the biggest key change they’ve made, they’ve become flexible.

Life’s even less predictable now.

Between Work running over, kids getting ill or having parties, changing plans and broken sleep.

If you pair all that with that all or nothing mindset, it’s a car crash waiting to happen.

If the session can be perfect, it gets skipped. If food is on point, it slips. If the week veers off track, they wait until Monday.

That’s not flexibility, that’s being fragile.

Real consistency is able to adapt.

Workouts or Runs, get shortened to what times available.

Some weeks are great, some survive.

They switch from thinking whats ideal, to what can I get done?

Thats the standard they have. Thats the difference.

Not perfection, Not intensity.

Just not disappearing or downing all tools when life gets busy.

They be flexible.

🤜🤛

What an achievement this was!

Boston 2026 ✅ for

I cannot tell you the work that’s went in to getting here do this man!

2 years worth of graft to live out a dream! To take part in the most recognised marathon in the world!

Which has some pretty high standards when it comes to qualifying!

Finishing this in 3:13 is just insane!

Reality is, completing a marathon is a huge achievement (Only 0.17% of the population do this every year)

To run a 3:13 is sensational!

The discipline, the resilience and relentlessness in your training to make this a reality is commendable.

It’s shows all Dads, you can provide for your family whilst providing for yourself 🤝

The only block is yourself 🫡

Andy, you are a hero! It is an honour to be in your corner brother!

Game Day for Andy!

For this is years in the making! This has been the goal all along!

After narrowly missing out on last years with the qualifying buffer changing by 7 mins meant he missed out by seconds.

Last year everything was geared towards making sure, regardless of the buffer, this wouldn’t happen again!

He stuck to his word! Qualifying time of 3:12 at Lochness meant he was well under the qualifying time of 3:20 and then the buffer of 5 minutes.

Sheer relentless resiliency to get to this point!

A true hero and example to all Dads out there, that you can provide, look after yourself and achieve great feats!

Go out there and enjoy every minute of this run brother! You earned it and then some!

Let’s get after it!!

You work hard for your family.

So much so that you end up neglecting yourself.

You spend that long not looking after yourself, that the idea of finding time to change it just feels impossible.

And even if you did, you don’t really know where to start.

What’s actually worth doing?

Then eventually you get to the point where you think right, I’m going to make the time.

And when you do?

You go all in.

Big expectations, Demanding fast results.

Which sounds great, but it’s a double edged sword.

Because anything less than what you expected and you’re left frustrated, at the process and with yourself.

So here’s the bit most parents need to hear.

You need to commit to the long term.
This isn’t an overnight fix, it’s something you build.

Start small and build it up.
What you can achieve training 3 days a week, just by being consistent, is massively underrated.

And most importantly, you’ve got to be flexible.

Life with kids will test any routine you try to build.

Kids get ill.
Work gets busy.
Your partner needs you to tap in.
Some weeks just don’t go to plan.

That’s all part of what we signed up for.

Missing a session because your kid’s unwell doesn’t make you a failure.

It makes you a parent.

Which is the most important title you have.

Start small.
Build big.
Be flexible 🤝

A Tremendous Weekend in the Bag!

Cramond 10k today with some of the team (& Ellie)

The wind and rain didn’t hold anyone back! But it certainly tested our will, 5k of head wind and rain is just what you want on run 🙃😂

bagged a tremendous PB of 51:21 🔥 she wanted to get a PB and was over a minute faster in worse conditions 👏🏻 and was in the top 10 Females 🔥

smashed his first run event, first 10k test too! 53:14 🔥 Smashed his target of a sub 55 🫡 Proud of what this guys done booking on last minute!

set out to help pace his better half on her first 10k run event as well! Smashing a 56:58! Tremendous whislt still recovering from Hyrox at the end of the week 🤝

Proud of the team, honestly I’ve ran plenty runs in my time and that was a hoooorrid 10k 😅 tip my hat to them all!

Even bagged myself a 4s PB of 42:30 😅 every second counts and all 🤷🏻‍♂️

Friday we watched The Twins 👯‍♀️( )take on Hyrox Glasgow! They done themselves incredibly proud and bagged a PB of 1:14:32, think anyone who was there will attest the furnace and hole you are in during it!

They weren’t the happiest with the final result but given there’s 25 walls balls added since the last outing and a mistake on the sled doing half an extra length! They’ve smashed it! 🔥🔥

One thing across the board here which I am incredibly proud of the team is, regardless of the environment or conditions they alll delivered 100%

Some days you’ll have it, some days you won’t. But all you can every ask of yourself is that you give 100% on the day.

They all done exactly that!

Proud of my team 🤝

Happy Mothers Day to my beautiful wife ❤️

There’s no one else I rather live this wild life with, the boys and I appreciate everything you do for us!

The best mum they could ask for 💙

Most people tell me they just need to get back in shape.

That’s the one things that’s going to solve their problems.

But it’s rarely the truth.

It might be what they believe. But it’s not the truth.

It’s not about losing weight or having abs.

It’s the frustration of always stopping and starting.
Looking back at old photos and wondering where that version of you went.
It’s doing everything you used to do and realising it just doesn’t work with your current life.

Then every time you hype yourself up, it falls apart and you are left feeling like you’ve let yourself down.

And that s**t chips away at your self confidence, your belief. It almost hurts.

Getting in shape isn’t the fix.

It’s the result of regaining control.

It’s the outcome of increased standards, new habits and routines that work around the season of life you’re in.

The minute we accept results will come at different speeds, that we train when we can not when we want, still have to make some sacrifices as part of the deal.

Things will begin to move forward again 🤝
