One Man and His Blisters

One Man and His Blisters Miles of sweat, tears, bad jokes, laughs, stumbles, small victories and blisters.

One week to go… 😳🏃‍♂️
Somewhere between “I’ve got this 💪” and “why did I sign up for this again?!”
Emotions? All over the place 😂
But we’re ready. (I think.)
Next stop: 26.2 miles and a medal 🏅🔥

10 days to go until the London Marathon.
There were plenty of moments I wanted to quit… early mornings, cold and wet runs, tired legs, injures. But I kept showing up.
Not fast. Not perfect. Just consistent.
Never give up.

12 sleeps until London Marathon 2026. Let's go!

03/04/2026

Wave 14, Red Start, 11:05… lovely stuff.
By the time I set off, the elites will have finished, had a shower, a roast dinner and probably a nap 😅
On the plus side, I’ll be fully warmed up from queuing for 3 hours and overthinking my life choices.

5km this morning. Nothing special on paper… but everything to me.
First pain-free run since January.
3 runs in 5 days. (31k)
This wasn’t about pace (although I’ll take 7:01/km 👀), it was about getting out there, staying steady, and finishing feeling strong.
A few weeks ago, even this would’ve felt a long way off. Now the start line is coming into view… and I’ll be there.
One step, one run, one week at a time. 💙

Bath Half Marathon ✅
At one point I genuinely considered becoming a cyclist 🚴‍♂️
Less than 6 weeks until the London Marathon and I’m starting to suspect… a marathon might be quite far 😅
Physio done this morning, IT band is slowly improving, so we keep going 💪

Seeing the meningitis outbreak in Kent is a reminder why research and awareness still matter.

I’m running the 2026 London Marathon for the Meningitis Research Foundation in memory of my sister, who died from meningitis as a baby.

🏃‍♂️ Bath Half Marathon ✔️ DONE!

21.35 km completed at the today and I’m absolutely buzzing to get this one in the legs!

⏱ Time: 2h 24m
⚡ Pace: 6:47/km

Another big step on the road to the 2026

16/02/2026

69 days until the marathon… and my IT band has decided it wants its own training plan. 🙃
But today?
5K in the bank. ✅
It wasn’t quick.
It wasn’t pretty.
There was a lot of “don’t you dare tighten up now” self-talk going on.
But it’s another step closer to that start line in London. 🏃‍♂️

16.83km done. ⏱️ 2h 4m. 🐌 7:24/km. One sore knee.
Not fast. Not pretty. But very real marathon training for London 2026 💪 Physio booked for Wednesday.

Me: “I’ll just do a quick run”
The cycle path: ankle-deep floodwater
Me: 🧍‍♂️🌊 “Well… we’re committed now”

Marathon training: long runs, discipline, grit
