As we step into a new year, we also close the final chapter of the Basingstoke Junior Bison.

With 2025 coming to an end, we’re proud that our final act as a club was to support the future of junior hockey in Basingstoke by funding all of the essential equipment needed for the Bison Ice Hockey Academy to get started.

While this marks the end of the Junior Bison, it is very much a beginning for the next generation of players.

We wish everyone a Happy New Year and look forward to seeing junior hockey return to the ice in Basingstoke in the years ahead. 🏒🦬

What an amazing moment seeing Matthew on the ice for the very first time in his brand new Junior Bison–sponsored sledge, proudly wearing a Junior Bison jersey! ❤️🤍🖤

Moments like this remind us why youth hockey means so much — giving every young player the chance to experience the thrill of the game and the joy of being part of a team.

We can’t wait to see the Basingstoke rink reopen so we can help get junior ice hockey started again and create more moments just like this. 🏒💪

💙 Supporting the Ice Hockey Community 💙

When we heard that Matthew Aisbitt had his sledge stolen, we knew we wanted to help. No one should miss out on the sport they love because of something like that — so we’re proud to share that we’ve fully funded his new sledge, which has now been ordered with the help of Coach Jake.

We can’t wait to see Matthew back on the ice where he belongs, representing the Sheffield Steelkings Para Ice Hockey Club. 🏒💪

🚨 GREAT NEWS ALERT 🚨

Last week we shared the terrible news that one of our youngest Steelkings had his sledge stolen 😢

Well thanks to some very generous donations, we are pleased to say that Matthew has reached his target and will be able to buy a new sledge to train in 🥳

Not only that, any spare money is going to be used to support other children with a lower-body disability or impairment that might like to try para ice hockey here in Sheffield 😊

Well done Matthew! We can't wait to see you back on the ice again soon!

🎥 Donation Update from the Junior Bison

We’re pleased to share that we’ve donated our old Veo camera to the South Wonston Swifts U16 team – we hope it helps them capture plenty of great moments on the pitch and gets plenty of use! ⚽📹

As mentioned before, although the Junior Bison have now closed, we’ll continue to share updates in the coming months about the charitable donations we’re making locally.

📢 An Update from the Basingstoke Junior Bison

Although this page is in the process of closing down, we still have one or two important updates to share with you.

As part of winding down the Junior Bison, our charter requires that any remaining funds are donated to charity. When we heard about the tragic loss of the Basingstoke Hockey Club , we knew we wanted to help. We’ve reached out and provided four full sets of goalie kit to support their restart and keep hockey alive in our community. 🏒💙

Over the coming months, we’ll also share news on other local charities we’ll be supporting. In addition, we’re excited to be in a position to help the new Basingstoke Bison Academy get off the ground, should they need support with equipment.

Thank you all for your continued support – the Bison spirit lives on in the next generation of players, teams, and fans. 🦬❄️

After decades of memories, goals, friendships, and fierce competition, the Basingstoke Junior Bison chapter has come to a close. This page will remain here as a tribute to the incredible players, coaches, volunteers, and families who made it all possible.

From tiny skates to national tournaments, the Junior Bison represented the very best of youth ice hockey in Basingstoke.

Thank you for being part of the journey. 💙

Basingstoke Bison are proud to announce the launch of the Bison Ice Hockey Academy, a major step forward for the development of young ice hockey talent in the region! 🏒

Following an exciting new agreement with Planet Ice, the Academy will officially open its doors in August 2025, ready for the 2025/26 season.

🏒 Training Sessions 🏒
Our goal is to provide 2 training sessions per week—one on Monday and one on Wednesday, each lasting 45 minutes. We also have the flexibility to train up or down based on what’s best for each player’s development. Looking forward to seeing everyone back on the ice soon! ⛸️💨
