First league game of the season for our Women’s team almost ended with a 1-0 win but the opposition managed to find an equalizer with 25 seconds left to play. With 7 players making their first league appearance for the team and up against a team who won both games against us last season, it was a great start to the season. Overton dominated the first 20 minutes and Chloe was unlucky not to put the team in front with a header coming in from a corner. The defensive was solid throughout and restricted Rushmoor’s attack but when they did get through Carol (stand-in keeper for the day) pulled out some fine saves. Second half was more even but the deadlock was broken when Maja won a free-kick well outside the box out to the right; up stepped Sophia who powered the shot high over the goalkeepers head…unstoppable! With seconds to spare Rushmoor equalized with a well placed ball over the defensive line which was taken well. Good positive start to the season – well played all ⚽️🔵⚪️🔵⚪️⚽️

A huge thank you to everyone who made yesterday’s Overton Youth Football presentations such a brilliant day for the club.

Special thanks to Overton Radio for hosting the day, Overton United football club (Gary Savory and Damo Trendall) for running the bar, and to Lee Verney and the U13 parents for putting on an amazing BBQ. Big thanks also to Turners Butchers for supplying the meat, Gaynor at The Village Refillery, and Sonny Jim’s Ice Cream for keeping everyone fed and refreshed throughout the day.

And most importantly, a heartfelt thank you to Michael Taylor, who has now stepped down after 8 years of loyal service as club chairman. His dedication and hard work have helped grow the club into what it is today, and we are all incredibly proud to be part of it.

As always, our players will gather with their teammates for team photos before heading over to the awards area with their coaches and managers. Each team will reflect on some of their successes from the season before medals and trophies are presented to celebrate the exceptional growth, attitude, commitment and performances shown by our OYFC players throughout the year.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to recognise the hard work and achievements of every player and to come together as a club to celebrate another memorable season.

There will be food and a bar available throughout the day, so why not make an afternoon of it? Bring a picnic blanket, relax with friends and family, and enjoy the celebrations.

We can’t wait to see everyone there! 💙🤍⚽
