Introducing "The Packing Patch BOC Saver"

Your BOC pocket needs remain tight enough to keep your pilot chute safely retained during a skydive until you are ready to "press the stop button".

When the BOC loses its ability to do this it will need to be replaced, that is quite a bit of work for your rigger and subsequently costs several jump tickets.

Storing the pilot chute in the BOC adds to the wear and tear, so not recommended, however you also need to look after the pilot chute itself as that's pretty important, and also not cheap.

That's where the BOC Saver comes in. A spandex pocket (similar material to the BOC) that stores the folded Pilot Chute that is secured using the main closing flap. Simply remove the BOC Saver and put the ready prepared Pilot chute in the BOC when it is time to skydive.

Probably the most stressful week I can remember.

Six months since The Packing Patch opened its doors.

Probably timing it for winter wasn't my best plan but a steady stream of repacks has followed, thank you to all those who trusted me with their repack, and new clients are coming through your recommendation.

Have also "coached" several people who wanted to get a bit more confident packing their main canopies, I really enjoy seeing how by the end of the session they have got it.

Looking forward to the next six months.

One thing that people are saying to me is they have a lack of confidence packing their main canopy, I guess that isn't a surprise to some who are also quietly feeling the same way.

Part of the reason for that is that here in the UK we do a "packing course" or "packing brief" as part of the process of gaining our B License.

Trouble is hardly anyone has their own rig when they do this and they are still using rentals at the DZ which are packed as part if the rental. 50 or so jumps as a B License and the skydiver gets their own rig and is suddenly confronted with having to pack it themselves or hope that a packer is available.

To try and address this The Packing Patch will be offering 1-1 or 1-2 main packing coaching for people who want to get confident with packing their main canopies.

If you have your own kit bring it along and we will spend a few hours going through how you inspect and maintain it, such things as connecting canopies to risers and risers to the rig, and regular inspections you should do to keep your kit in good order.

We will then practice packing and get you confident doing so.

If you don't have your kit yet we can use some of ours.

Introducing the "Indoor Skydiving Special Reserve Repack Service" offered at The Packing Patch.

We are conveniently located just half a mile from iFLY Basingstoke Indoor Skydiving and are able to offer a reserve repack service to skydivers training at the establishment. Please note this offer is not made in association with iFLY.

How it works:

If you are coming to Basingstoke to use the windy tunnel and also due a reserve repack why not combine the two.

Drop your rig at The Packing Patch on the way to your tunnel session and we will complete the reserve repack whilst you are flying.

Service needs to be booked in advance and obviously is limited during any particular tunnel session. We obviously need sufficient time to complete the repack.

Courier your rig with us for a fast & convenient turn around of your reserve repack.

Process:

1. Contact us to book your repack in, and let us know the size of the box
2. We will email you a shipping label.
3. Drop your parcel, complete with label at your local drop off point, the rig will be with us the next day.
4. Your rig will be unpacked inspected and repacked the day we receive it.
5. If there is any "rigging work" that needs to be done for the rig to be servicable we will contact you to discuss your options.
6. Once the repack is complete it will be returned by courier on an overnight service.
