The Basildon & Pitsea Cricket Club

The Basildon & Pitsea Cricket Club The official Basildon & Pitsea Cricket Club page. Originally called Basildon Cricket Club, we have been in existence since before the second world war.

During the time when all the young men were serving in the forces, the club fell into decline, and was reformed in 1948. Back in these times the club played at the Old Rectory in Cranes Farm Road, now the site of the New Holland Tractor Plant. It moved to Benfleet Recreation ground when the New Town began taking shape and moved back to Basildon in 1962. In 1968 The Basildon Cricket Club was formed

as a result of a merger between two of the New Towns club, Basildon Cranes and Basildon Cricket Club and made Mopsies Park their headquarters. As time evolved, so did the fortunes of the club; it has always had a progressive approach to the future. This has manifested itself in many ways, not in the least by its strong youth policy. The club currently fields 3 adult teams at the weekends for its members in the T Rippon Mid Essex League. It also plays regular weekday games and fields under 9, 11, 13, and 15 youth sides. The club colours are gold, green and black. The club is working closely with the local council to develop local cricket.

Thanks to everyone who supported yesterday. What an incredible day for the club, topped off by a brilliant win for the 1st XI. 🏏💚

It was fantastic to see so many former players back at the club, reconnecting with old teammates and sharing memories from across the generations. Days like yesterday remind us just how special Basildon & Pitsea CC is and how many people have helped shape the club over the years.

We’re also delighted to announce that we raised a further £2,000 towards the clubhouse project through the raffle, bus stop, World Cup envelopes and a number of very generous donations. Every pound brings us another step closer to delivering facilities that will benefit current and future generations of players.

To top it all off, the Mayor’s visit has opened up some exciting conversations around potential additional funding, so fingers crossed for more positive news in the near future. 🤞🏻

Thank you again to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered and supported the day.
