didi rugby didi rugby is an exciting programme of multi-skills activity delivered through the tool of rugby.

Once Vicky Macqueen had retired from international Rugby Union she qualified as a level 3 rugby coach and had a successful spell as a coach rather than a player. After having her 1st of 2 children in 2012 she wanted to create an environment where children could enjoy a love for physical activity from a very early age, with the desire to promote a lifelong passion for exercise, which is vital for h

ealth and wellbeing. Vicky had a serious life threatening infection in November 2013 in which she spent time in intensive care. When in recovery she was told by consultants that
her fitness levels saved her life, this has only inspired Vicky further to spread the virtues of health and fitness to little ones all around the world. She set out with the purpose that the children should experience from each session, confidence, self-esteem and fun, and this defines the core of all the activities for didi rugby. In the summer of 2015 didi rugby was conceived, starting in May with one session and 8 didi rugby stars, still in its infancy but thousands of didi rugby stars each week, in 22 regions of the country enjoy and have fun at a didi rugby sessions just over four years from its conception.

Before becoming a parent, you imagine taking your child to activities.

You picture them happily getting dressed, skipping through the door and eagerly joining in.

Then you actually become a parent.

Now you're negotiating with a tiny terrorist over socks.

Someone is crying because their banana broke.

Someone else has forgotten how legs work.

And somehow you're already late.

If this sounds familiar, you're exactly the sort of family we love seeing at didi rugby.

The truth is, children don't arrive at sessions as perfectly behaved little athletes. They arrive tired, excited, grumpy, energetic, shy, hungry or occasionally all six at once.

One week they're charging around like future rugby stars.

The next they're attached to your leg and showing no interest in joining in.

That's okay.

Because what we see week after week is that confidence grows. Friendships form. Children learn new skills. They become braver, more independent and more willing to have a go.

Not overnight.

But little by little.

And honestly, those moments when a child does something they couldn't do a few weeks ago are far more exciting than any rugby skill.

So if you've ever worried that your child is too shy, too energetic, too distracted or too unpredictable for a class...

⭐️ Fantastic to see so many children and families enjoying didi rugby classes in Japan ⭐️

There are smiles all round at every session, with lots of children having fun, learning new skills and enjoying rugby in such a positive environment. It’s lovely to see families coming along too and becoming part of the growing didi rugby community.

Their classes continue to grow, with more children joining and more sessions taking place across Japan. It’s exciting to see how things are developing and how many children are getting involved.

With new coaches joining this summer, they’ll be able to offer even more sessions and bring didi rugby to even more children and families.
