Next up at the Warriors Cup were our Lil Warriors.

For our three-to-six-year-olds, this section is not about winning or losing. It is about building confidence and giving every child a safe, positive and enjoyable first experience of competition.

There is no head contact, and for this event we also introduced body armour to give the children even more reassurance when stepping onto the mats.

The aim is simple:

To let them have a go.
To test the skills they have been learning.
To experience the excitement of the event.
And most importantly, to come off the mats smiling.

When children know they are safe, supported and encouraged, they become more willing to try new things and step outside their comfort zones.

That is how confidence is built in our Lil Warriors programme — one small, positive experience at a time.

A huge well done to every Lil Warrior who stepped onto the mats.

Next up at the Warriors Cup were Kuba and Izyan.

Both fighters have been training for longer than many of our newer competitors, and that experience showed throughout their performance.

Their kicking was more technical, their follow-up combinations were sharper, and they demonstrated a much better understanding of distance, movement and keeping themselves protected.

With no head contact permitted for competitors under 12, both students showed control and discipline while still maintaining a strong work rate and producing an exciting match.

They demonstrated skill, resilience and focus, but the biggest sign of their progress was their growing fight intelligence.

They are beginning to understand which techniques suit them, when to use them, how to follow them up and when something is not working and needs to be changed.

That ability to think, adapt and make decisions under pressure is a major part of becoming a better martial artist.

A fantastic performance from both young men. Well done, Kuba and Izyan.

Omara and Zendaya put on a performance and a half at the Warriors Cup.

Let’s put this into perspective.

Omara stepped onto the mats with only three weeks of training behind her — and she was completely up for the challenge.

The grit, courage and determination she showed cannot be taught. She faced the occasion head-on, kept moving forward and showed exactly what can happen when someone refuses to back down.

We cannot wait to see where her journey takes her.

Then there was Zendaya.

Despite having far more training experience, this was only her second Warriors Cup. She showed outstanding control, maturity and respect throughout the match.

She matched Omara’s work rate without taking advantage of her experience, helping to build her opponent’s confidence while still producing a fantastic performance of her own.

That level of awareness, discipline and sportsmanship says everything about her character.

Of course, if you knew none of the background and simply watched the match, all you would have seen was an absolute war.

Well done, young ladies. You both did yourselves, your families and ASBBA proud.

Have you heard of our summer confidence programme?

When many of our ladies first join ASBBA, they usually say the same things:

“I want to get fit.”
“I want to learn how to defend myself.”
“But I don’t want to spar.”
“And I definitely don’t want to compete.”

Then something changes.

Their confidence grows.
Their skills improve.
Their mindset becomes stronger.
And they begin stepping outside their comfort zone.

Yesterday, these incredible ladies stepped onto the mats at our in-house Warriors Cup and showed courage, determination, resilience and real team spirit.

It was not just about winning medals.

It was about facing nerves, believing in themselves and proving that they are capable of far more than they originally thought.

Take a bow, ladies. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.

We asked our lil warriors where the best martial arts classes are in birmingham for 3 to 6 year olds. Based in handsworth, winson green and bartley green we had this response.

𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?

When your child looks back on this summer...

What will they remember?

Will it be hours on a phone... another level completed on a game... another day saying, "I'm bored..."?

Or will they remember building confidence, making new friends, achieving something they never thought possible and walking into school in September feeling proud of themselves?

As a martial arts instructor, I've seen children walk through our doors too shy to speak, too nervous to join in or lacking confidence in themselves.

A few weeks later, they're standing taller, smiling more and believing they can achieve things they never thought they could.

That's exactly why we've created our Summer Confidence Programme.

Every session is designed to develop confidence, discipline, focus and resilience in a positive environment.

It's not just about martial arts.

It's about giving children the confidence they'll carry into school... and into life.

We've decided to keep the programme small so every child gets the attention they deserve.

That means we only have 20 places available.

If you've been thinking about finding your child a positive activity this summer...

Don't wait until all the places have gone.

Send us a message or click the link below to reserve their place today.

Because sometimes the biggest changes start with one small decision.
