Barry Kyokushin Karate Club, Established in 1978 is firmly established as THE longest running Karate club in the Vale of Glamorgan and the FIRST Karate club ever opened in Barry. Kyokushin Karate is widely regarded as one of the strongest Martial arts in the world, one of the most disciplined and an art that requires the most patience. Here at Barry Kyokushin we are just that. We train to the high

est level achievable and educate and enhance our students along the way. At Barry Kyokushin we offer more to our students than many others, where we not only compete (and be hugely successful) in tournaments all around the UK and the Europe, but offer students a chance to compete at the highest level possible, The World Tournament in Japan. But, if competing isn’t your thing, there is no better way to improve your confidence and coordination than training in Kyokushin Karate, not to mention one of the most effective self defence arts in the world. Kyokushin is a FULL CONTACT martial art, but that doesn’t mean your coming in to fight and get hurt, it means we train you to defend yourself in a full contact manner. Beginners classes in full swing.
All new junior beginners students start in our beginners classes.
These classes are run by highly skilled and very capable instructors who have been personally selected and trained by the clubs Chief Instructor.
Beginners classes are where students learn fundamentals of Kyokushin karate.
Children are taught how to focus on the training, are helped to build coordination and confidence and are educated on the discipline of martial arts.

Yesterday some of our team headed to Crystal Palace to compete in the BKG Open and they absolutely smashed it.
Kaylee, Paul and Jack all took 1st places in their categories, just missing out on a podium spot was Cruz who was in a particularly tough category but still put in valiant effort and went on to support and cheer on his fellow competitors.
Sensei Phill said "im so incredibly proud of these fighters and their talents, they step up and achieve everytime and I cant wait to see whats next up for these kids"

After many years of dedication to the dojo, Rhian has decided to step away from her role within South Wales Martial Arts Academy and Barry Kyokushin Karate.

Over the years, she has played a huge part in the growth and development of both club and organisation and has given an enormous amount of time, energy, commitment, and passion to the students and wider dojo community. From coaching and supporting students, to helping organise events, gradings, and competitions, her contribution over the years has been significant and appreciated by many people.

Together, we shared many memorable moments, achievements, challenges, and successes throughout the years, all of which will remain an important part of the history of SWMAA and Barry Kyokushin.

On behalf of all the instructors, students, parents, and families, we would like to sincerely thank Rhian for everything she has contributed to the dojo over the years and wish you success for the future.
