Eating out when you are trying to lose weight or maintain weight loss is hard for anyone. If you are on the shorter side around 5ft 4 or under it is even harder.

Most meals in restaurants are over 1000 calories and when you have a lower calorie goal one meal out can really impact your whole week not just the day.

My top 5 tips to help

1, Ask for or see if they offer a smaller portion.
2, Ask to switch half of your pasta/rice/chips out for more veg.
3, Ask for something baked/grilled/steamed rather than fried
4, Sauces on the side
5, Prioritise your protein and your veg as in eat it first so that you are not as likely to over eat on other things. Eat slowly and enjoy your food.

Short and wanting to lose weight and keep it off?
The way you workout is so important. It’s tempting to do more cardio, sweat more, see the calorie burn on your watch.

Some cardio is so important for your overall health, for the feel good factor and yes for some work with energy balance. So get your steps in and get some cardio done. Don’t over do it…. Far more important is

Lift weights so that you can build more muscle.
You need to have a great base of muscle to help give you an amazing body composition to help you stop feeling fluffy, to help with your daily energy balance as the more muscle you build the higher your TDEE! So it’s a win all around.

When you are smaller there is no getting around it weight loss and keeping the weight off is harder. We just do not have as much flexibility as someone who is taller.

It takes more planning, more thought and consideration. I’m going to be doing a short series of posts all about this topic.

Tag your small friends or send this over to them so that they can see the full series

Honestly the Q&As get the best feedback!

I want everyone on my on line programme to feel supported, not just at check ins or when I am chatting to them about something. I want them to have the tools to learn and stay motivated all through the programme and the Q&As are a huge part of that.

Every week I collect everyone’s questions and they range from technical weight lifting advice to I’ve eaten too many brownies and feel awful please help moments! I record it podcast style and send it over so the group can listen whenever they have time.

Over the months the answers start to sink in, they become useful even if when you first heard it it wasn’t relevant. These Q&A sessions are gold and help make a happier, healthier, fitter life.

Topic Tuesdays are a chance for my on line group to learn more about a diet/fitness/health or wellness subject.

It’s so important to me that I don’t just tell people what to eat, how much to eat, which exercises to do I want them to understand why so that when they are done with my programme they can continue on their own forever.
Forever health, fitness and weight loss is my goal for them not just a quick fix.

5 things to stop doing at the weekend, these things are spoiling your weight loss, fitness and wellness progress.

1, Stop telling yourself you will start again on Monday. This will continue forever. Tell yourself you are willing to make some compromises this weekend so that Monday is not a start over just a tighten up.

2, Stop buying weekend treats, if you have extras in the house, easy to grab it’s making your life so much harder.

3, Message a friend and book on a walk or a workout. You can still go for coffee/cake but let’s start to change our habits and how we reward ourselves.

4, Stop telling yourself you deserve it, it’s the weekend. You deserve to eat well, to get to your goals, to look after yourself. It’s ok to say yes to somethings but you need to have balance and know that to get to your goals you can not say yes to everything.

5, Stop skipping meals to save calories for later. This doesn’t work it just makes you hungry, miserable and more likely to eat excessively later in meals or snacks. It’s ok to reduce your calories a little if you know you are having a big meal but don’t skip it altogether.
