We start of the year with a lanequest event followed by a compact group of TTs running till summer.

The events will cool off a bit with a few social rides going on & we'll get back to the racing for the hill climb season.

REPORT & INTERVIEWS: Wynne-Cattanach and Jenkinson triumph on Nick O’ Pendle

Kieran Wynne-Cattanach continued his preparations for the National Hill Climb Championships with victory in the open category at the North Lancashire Road Club's Nick O’ Pendle hill climb in Lancashire on Sunday, with fastest female going to Bronwen Jenkinson.
Riding for Team Lifting Gear Products, Wynne-Cattanach was quickest up the climb in 3:22-2, almost 50 seconds ahead of closest challenger Jason Caine (Barrow Central Wheelers Cycling Club) in 4:10-9, while James Ingham (360 cycling) completed the top three by posting 4:13-7 on the day.
“With the forecast it was quite a surprise to get a dry morning,” said Wynne-Cattanach.
“I had a decent ride and it was really nice to have plenty of support from spectators all the way up the course. It's a hill that's got great prestige in the history of hill climbs, and is a really challenging hill, so it's great to win here again.”
In the women’s event, Jenkinson (Clwb Beicio Egni Eryri) claimed a narrow two-second win in 5:38-0, beating Ayesha Voce who was runner-up in 5:40-5 for Shibden Cycling Club, with High Peak Cycles rider Alice Larkin completing the podium in 5:46-4.
“This is my favourite hill so it was super fun and always nice to have a dry day and a tailwind,” said Jenkinson. “It was a very close race in the women’s which was cool, and the organising team put on another great event.”
From her seven hill climbs so far in 2025, Jenkinson has claimed third at the Got Lane Hill Climb on September 6, runner-up at Sir William Hill climb by Team Lifting Gear Products on September 13, before winning at the Birdwell Wheelers Green Moor climb on September 14.
This hill climb, held on the L806 course in Lancashire, starts in Sabden and heads up Clitheroe Road with a total distance of 1 mile and an elevation gain of 136.42 metres with an average gradient of 11.2%.

REPORT & INTERVIEWS: Morris and Moss battle to wins at Lancashire Road Club 25

Matt Morris (Giant Store Kendal-Sidas.uk) battled to victory by over two minutes in windy conditions at the Lancashire RC 25, while Deborah Moss (Springfield Financial Racing Team) was the fastest woman.
Morris took his fifth open victory of the season on a tough day in Lancashire by stopping the clock in 54 minutes and six seconds.
The L2534 saw riders start close to the Lancashire coast at Preesall before heading out-and-back along the A588 to the turn outside Lancaster.
The 25-mile course contained 175 metres of elevation, with the majority of that coming close to the halfway point.
Phil Williams has posted the quickest open time trial time on the course in the last three years of 52-13.
Morris posted 54-32 on his way to winning the Preston Wheelers 25 last month and despite riders being hampered by windy conditions he improved that time by 26 seconds.
Second place on scratch this time out was Kevin Locke (Barrow Central Wheelers Cycling Club) who stopped the clock in 56-27.
Following his win Morris said: “The race went well and it was good to take the win on this proper testers course.
“The course has a bit of everything with flat drag strips into a rolling section with a few tight corners, although windy the weather was nice and warm with headwind on the outward leg which made for a fast finish.
“A big thank you to Lancashire Road Club for the hosting the event!”
Veteran rider Moss has also been in impressive form this season in the women’s category and took her fifth open win of the season in a time of 1-02-20.
Moss also won the Preston Wheelers 25-mile event last month and went much faster than her 1-03-05 on that occasion.
Following her win Moss said: “For a change, it was a warm race, perfect temperature.
“It was its usual windy self across Pilling Sands. I had checked the weather for the wind direction which had said southerly winds meaning a tailwind up to Lancaster.
“On the day, it was the opposite. So, it was a battle up to Lancaster to the turn with a disappointing average speed, but happy to pull a bit back on the return leg.
“I’m really pleased to take the win on a local course. Thanks to Ben and Tony for the organising and all the marshals and helpers on the day.”
In the over-40 veterans’ category Steven Bedford (North Lancashire Road Club) was the fastest in 58-52, ahead of Matt Stell (Springfield Financial Racing Team) in second (59-04).
Meanwhile, the quickest veteran in the over-50 category was Mark Parsons (Lancashire RC) in 1-01-36.
The veteran category aged 60 to 70 was closely contested with James Bentley (Lancashire RC) going quickest in 1-09-53, ahead of David Hilditch (Springfield Financial Racing Team) in second (1-10-44) and John Hampson (Hoppers Rollers) in third (1-12-42).

The BCW TT season is nearly upon us! First two weeks(Wednesday 3rd and 10th April) are down the Coast Rd on our 10 mile course. All welcome with sign on before the event- £4 (card payment).

Friendly, accessible racing on any bike. Why not try and post a time on the 3rd and try and beat it on the 10th?

Lights and helmet required, sign on from 17.45 with first rider off at 18:31.

This is the website link to report pot holes and general poor road conditions.

It’s very easy to use - you just need a picture of the pot hole, ideally!

Obviously please only take pictures of pot holes when safe to do so.

I’ve reported a few up the east side of Coniston at Water Yeat farm yard junction and also on the coast road - I’ve not done the one at the bottom of Aldingham hill if anyone can do that?
