OMG I gained 2.8kg on holiday… 👀
And here’s what I’m NOT doing about it 👇🏼
❌ Slashing my calories
I’m going straight back to maintenance calories (after my Indian takeaway 🤣) and will track consistently for the next 2 weeks. No panic deficit required.
❌ Punishing myself in the gym
I don’t need to “burn off” my extra holiday calories 💪🏼
❌ Cutting out carbs
We NEED carbs. They fuel our training, support performance and are part of a balanced diet 🍝🥔🍞
❌ Skipping meals to “make up” for it
No starving myself all day because I ate (and drank 🫠) more than usual on holiday. Back to regular meals, protein, fruit & veg and plenty of FOOD 🥗
❌ Doing hours of cardio
I’m not suddenly going to be doing 20k steps and endless cardio every day. I’ll simply get back to my normal movement routine🚶🏻♀️
❌ Obsessing over the scales
2.8kg is not 2.8kg of body fat. After a holiday, changes in carbs, sodium, alcohol, food volume, hydration and routine can all affect scale weight.
So instead…
✅ Back to routine
✅ Maintenance calories
✅ Plenty of protein
✅ Strength training
✅ Normal daily movement
✅ Carbs included
✅ Enjoy my holiday without guilt
One holiday doesn’t undo months of consistency.
And one higher weigh-in doesn’t mean you need to “start again”
The goal isn’t to be perfect. It’s to know how to get back to your normal routine without going to extremes 🫶🏼
