Trevor Telling Memorial Fishing Competition

Wimbleball Lake, Sunday the 6th September 2026...

2 Fishing competitions in 1, from the boat and the bank, trophy & prizes for each.

Normal price for fishing plus £5 donation to charity.

For those that knew Trevor, and for those that didn't, this is our annual commemorative event to remind us of a man who simply loved all fishing but especially fly fishing and Wimbleball.
His local knowledge of Wimbleball was legendary which he readily shared with anglers on the pontoon as he sent them out for their days fishing.

Reservoir levels are still dropping but at a slightly slower pace, temperatures have dropped significantly in the past week, bringing the fish nearer to the surface. Fish have been caught on the surface now in Arthurs bay, Cow moor and Yacht club bay and are also high in the water over the dam area but yet to disperse fully, we expect them to do this over the next few weeks.

Alex Venn reported, "Fish are now rising on the top, fish feeding around the surface to 3 feet deep around Steart bay and the dam all over. Best tactic was buzzer tip with Boobie on the point and nymphs. Fishing coming to to boat on diawl Bachs mainly. I did get some knocks and landed one on the DI 7 on an apache pattern.
Only bit of consistency was the slower the better with the fishing on buzzer tip. All in all plenty of fish around and feeding in the top section."

Best fishing clearly still from the boat... Tight Lines
