I’ve seen this come up a lot...
In passing conversations with people (especially once they know what I do), they’ll often mention little aches, pains, or discomfort they’ve been dealing with in various places. But when you dig a bit deeper, they’re not always sure when it started or even what has caused it.
It usually gets brushed off with something like,
“Ah well… just getting older, I guess.”
When I ask what they’ve done about it or tried so far, it seems to me the default is often to rest or just stop doing certain activities, maybe this feels like the 'safer' option.
But here's the thing... in many cases, those aches aren’t a sign to stop. They’re a sign your body needs a bit more support.
The tricky part is knowing the difference.
That’s where good coaching really matters; and why we're so passionate about truly understanding how your body is moving, what it needs on an individual level, and what the right next step looks like. For us, this is a much better solution rather than guessing or avoiding it altogether just hoping it'll go away.
At BAM, that’s a big part of what we do. We help people make sense of what their body is telling them, and guide them towards an approach that lets them keep training (even if we need to strip things back in order to move forward), and keep doing the things they enjoy.
