The New Bank FC Sunday league football team

Yesterday the lads travelled away for the first time this season to play Hoyland Common Falcons aiming to get their first 3 points. Started out brilliantly with Tyler Arnold rattling the post/crossbar inside 2 minutes then a few minutes later Tyler Arnold took a free kick from 25 yards out got it on target and Alex Miller was quickest to the rebound to put us 1-0 up. It was 1 way traffic all first half and around the 20th minute Harry Crook cut inside and hammered the ball across the box which fell to Brad Fletcher who took a shot the keeper saved and the rebound fell to Tyler Arnold who Hammered it home for 2-0. Apart from numerous missed chances from New Bank and a swift headbutt from Hoylands number 10, which saw him go for an early shower, the first half didn’t have much else. The second half New Bank just didn’t get going, a very scrappy half of football and we failed to capitalise on 10 men hoyland. Full time 2-0
Good first win of season for lads now we push to keep it going UTFB⚽️

This Sunday the lads take on Hoyland Common Falcons, away for the first time this season. Let’s hope we can finally find our pre season form and bring it into the league, 2 losses from the first 2 games shows we must be better from now and we will be! UTFB⚽️

On Sunday the lads played their second competitive fixture and first league game against FC Cottage. What started off as a lovely Sunday ended up miserable.
Within the first 10 minutes we looked up for it we missed a 1v1 and after some aggressive pressing from Ewan Winnard winning the ball back multiple times it landed at maddi Milner who flicked it round the corner for Lewis white who hammered it across goal to put us 1-0 up. After this it was sadly a downhill slope conceding 5 on the opening day, we created plenty of chances throughout the game to keep us in it but it wasn’t to be

After a poor result in our preliminary cup round last Sunday we take on FC Cottage in our first League game. Result and performance has to be better this week as we hope to get our first 3 points on the board.

Yesterday the 2026/27 season got underway and it wasn’t a great day for New Bank. Started out well applying the pressure onto Ryhill but then a snapshot strike from about 40 yard from the Ryhill RB caught our keeper off guard, this clearly got ryhill playing and we found ourselves 3-0 down at half time. After a few subs and a change of shape we managed to gain abit more control in the second half Brad Fletcher scoring a lovely header from a George Hudson free kick and late on in the game to make it 6-2 Brad fletcher won a flick on from a throw in which fell to Edward Ryan who scored with a tidy finish under the keeper.
We know we can perform better than we did on this occasion but results will come just a bad day at the office for New Bank against a strong side. UTNB⚽️

This upcoming sunday sees the start of our 2026/27 league campaign. Starting out with preliminary cup game in the Roy Parden Trophy against Ryhill who are a division above, a win in this sends us through to the first round against very tough opposition Worsbrough United.

Last night we played Hoyland FC, a team which we played last season and failed to get a result, however yesterday was a different story. After defending very well for the first 45 minutes we went in at half time 0-0 not creating much but not letting the opposition get a real chance. A formation change at half time changed everything, early into the second half Maddi Milner fizzed a ball into Bobbie Williamson who dummied the ball but it bounced straight back at his feet 1 touch and finish into the corner. Hoyland came back putting pressure on when the opposition number 8 drilled a free kick towards the front post and Hoyland were quickest to react to the lose ball to make it 1-1. Not long after this Tyler Pacey beat his man out wide and delivered a lovely cross towards the back post which Hoyland’s CB won the header and put it in his own net. To finish of a quality second half performance a long ball was sent to Tyler P who won the flick on which reached Alex Miller who flicked it into the path of Tyler Arnold who volleyed it straight into the side netting.
Couldn’t be happier for the lads Teams getting better and better each week, hard work in training and games looks to be paying off.
