Shaw Inn FC were narrowly beaten by Wombwell Main in a hard-fought encounter last night, with the game ultimately decided by a stoppage-time winner despite a battling performance from The Blues throughout.

From the first whistle, the lads showed real determination and character against a strong young Wombwell side, competing for every ball and never once letting the intensity drop. Chances came at both ends in a game that was played at a high tempo throughout, with Shaw Inn matching the hosts for long periods.

Mackenzie Grierson got himself on the scoresheet with another big goal, continuing to step up for the team when it matters most and giving the lads something to build from during a difficult battle.

In the end, it was heartbreak right at the death as Wombwell found a stoppage-time winner to take the points. The result however doesn’t take away from what this group has achieved this season. County Cup champions, countless memories made, and a team that’s continued to grow together every single week. There was plenty of noise before and after the game, but we’ll let the silverware from this season do the talking.

Massive credit to Wombwell Main, a very good young side with plenty of quality, and we wish them all the best in the play-offs👌🏻

The lads can keep their heads held high. This season has been special for Shaw Inn Football Club, and we couldn’t be prouder of every single person involved.

MOM🏆 – Marley Whitam
Stepped up and went in goal as an outfield player for the team and did himself absolutely proud. Brave performance, put his body on the line and gave everything for the badge from start to finish 👏

The Blues put in a ruthless display today against Hoyland Common, showing real quality, togetherness and a clinical edge in front of goal.

From the first whistle, the lads looked sharp and hungry, moving the ball well and creating chances throughout. The goals were shared around the team, with Dylan Soar, Brandon Glaves, Zack Speight, Jake Bedford and Tom Watson all getting themselves on the scoresheet.

Jude Fitzgerald also continued his brilliant run of form, grabbing two goals with another hardworking and energetic performance.

The standout performance came from Davey Cook, who came on in the 55th minute and made an unbelievable impact, scoring four goals and showing exactly how ruthless he can be in front of goal.

Hoyland battled throughout, but The Blues were simply too strong on the day, producing a commanding team performance and making the most of their chances when they came.

We keep building, keep fighting for each other, and carry more momentum into the final stages of the season.

MOM🏆 – Davey Cook

The Blues are back in action this weekend as we make the trip away from home to face Hoyland Common FC once again, following last weekend’s emphatic 4-1 victory at Worsbrough Rec. Confidence is sky high in the camp after a dominant performance, and the lads will be looking to carry that same intensity, quality, and winning mentality into this reverse fixture.

It’s another big test as we take on a side we know will be eager to respond on their own turf. Despite the result last time out, we’re expecting a competitive and physical encounter. With momentum firmly on our side and belief running through the squad, we’ll be aiming to deliver another strong performance and secure all three points on the road.

Let’s keep standards high, stay together, and continue building on what was a top performance last time out. Come on Blues🩵

The Blues put in a dominant performance this morning at Worsbrough Rec, as we secured a strong 4–1 win over fellow league side Hoyland Common FC.

We came out flying from the first whistle, setting the tempo early and taking control of the game. Our bright start paid off when Brandon Glaves opened the scoring in style, firing a brilliant effort into the top corner to give us the lead.

The Blues continued to press with intensity, and it wasn’t long before Jude Fitzgerald’s work rate was rewarded. His persistence saw him double our advantage, capping off a strong spell of pressure.

We kept pushing, and some excellent link-up play down the right-hand side led to our third. Joe Bambrough did brilliantly to square the ball across goal, and Fitzgerald was there again to grab his second of the game and put us firmly in control.

Before the break, we added a fourth to round off a superb first-half display. Bambrough this time getting on the scoresheet himself with a great strike to make it 4–0 going into half-time.

Hoyland Common did respond with a moment of quality in the first half, pulling one back with a superb free-kick, but it did little to take away from a commanding performance from The Blues.

We’re continuing to fight for each other, showing real togetherness and quality as we look to carry this momentum into the final stages of the season.

MOM🏆- Brandon Glaves – a top performance, full of energy, creativity, and capped off with a brilliant opening goal. Fully deserved 👏
