๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’™ We need your vote! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ

South Kirkby Colliery Cricket Club has been nominated for the Vico Homes Love Where You Live Awards 2026, and weโ€™d love your support!

For us, cricket is about so much more than what happens on a Saturday afternoon. Weโ€™re proud to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get involved in cricket and be part of our club.

๐Ÿง’ Free junior cricket for children across our community
๐Ÿ Junior teams from U5 through to U18
๐Ÿ‘ง Developing girlsโ€™ cricket and creating more opportunities for girls to play
๐Ÿ‘ฉ Building our womenโ€™s section and working towards league cricket
โญ Free opportunities for young people who may otherwise struggle to access sport
๐Ÿค Inclusive cricket for players of different abilities
๐Ÿ’™ A welcoming club where children can develop, make friends and grow in confidence
๐ŸŒฑ Volunteers giving their time week after week to coach, organise, maintain our grounds and keep the club running

Weโ€™re incredibly proud that we can offer junior cricket for free, helping remove financial barriers and making sure every child has the opportunity to discover a love of the game.

Everything we do is driven by volunteers who give up countless hours because they believe in the club and, most importantly, the community around it.

If you think South Kirkby Colliery Cricket Club deserves recognition for the work we do, please take a minute to vote for us.

๐Ÿ™ Every vote really does count.

๐Ÿ† Please support your local cricket club and help us win! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ

This week the (In memory of Pat Elvidge) 1st team played their final home game, hosting Calder Grove, the visitors won the toss and stuck us in to bat.
After the early loss of Dale Woolsey ( Infinity Funerals) Skipper Nick Crooks ( Minsthorpe Hotel The Nags + Dave & Di Crooks) and Liam Rollin (Andy Rollin) settled down nicely, navigating the new ball and keeping the scoreboard ticking, the pair would move us beyond 50, before disaster would strike, as The dismissal of Nick with the score on 53, would lead to the loss of 6 wickets for just 48 runs as we would fall from 53-1 to 91-7, with Liam still there battling away on 30 not out. he would be joined by George Senior ( A N Abraham Funeral Directors) who settled in very nicely and brought us back into the game with a bit of a counter-punch, as the score advanced to 147 before Liam fell for a very well fought 49. But joined by Reece Slater (AH Vehicle Logistics LTD) George would march on, and surpass a brilliant 50, he would eventually fall after some strong hitting at the end for an excellent 59, as from 91-7 we made it to 182 all out, a more than competitive total.

The standouts with the bat being:
George Senior 59(49)
Liam Rollin 49(106)

Now time to defend, and we got off to the perfect start with HP Keegan (In memory of Pat Elvidge) taking a wicket in the 1st over. The good start would turn into a game changing start as we in a way took the game away from Calder early on as HP took a wicket in each of his opening 4 overs, to leave the score 8-4 after 7 overs, as we were right on top. The visitors would rebuild well with a 50 partnership between their numbers 5 and 6, before Ben Elmore (available to sponsor) would strike to swing the momentum back our way, the score now 59-5. We really kept the foot on the throat from that point onwards, taking wickets at regular intervals, with HP completing his 5-fer along the way. Liam would claim the final wicket to see Calder Grove all out for 100, as we won by 82.

The standouts with the ball being:
HP Keegan: 14 overs 5-30
Ben Elmore: 10 overs 4-49

A massive win for us and one that will see the title race go down to the final week as we travel to Normanton, the scenario quite simple, a win will see us lift the league trophy...
