We don’t doubt what we can do. We doubt whether we can be seen doing it.

Sit in on enough real conversations with women our age and it’s there every time, dressed up as something else.

Turning down a work trip because it means eating alone in front of people. Dodging the photo at the work Christmas do because someone might actually look at it later. Leaving the leggings in the drawer because someone might clock you at the gym still learning.

Here’s the bit that catches people out. It was never about whether you could do the thing. You could. You always could.

It’s whether you could be watched doing it. Looking like this. Feeling like this. However far along you currently are. That’s a completely different fear, and it’s the one that actually stops us.

I know this one properly, because it’s not theory for me. My own confidence has gone up and down more times than I can count.

My weight was part of that, more than once, but never the whole story. Building this business from nothing did it too. So did becoming a single mum.

Every time, the pattern was the same. I didn’t stop believing I could do things. I just stopped wanting anyone watching me while I did them.

Then perimenopause did the same thing again, no single cause this time. There were years I wouldn’t leave the house for anything that wasn’t work. Didn’t socialise.

Was genuinely scared of meeting new people, even ones I already worked alongside every week, because being properly seen felt like too much of a risk.

Confidence like that doesn’t come back from being told nobody’s watching that closely, even though they’re not. It comes back from doing the thing anyway, in a room built so being watched stops feeling like a threat.

That’s the actual job we do here. Not talking you out of the fear. Building you a room where being seen stops being the scary part.

If any bit of this sounds familiar, that’s exactly what our 28 Day Kickstart is for.

Drop me a DM, no need to have it all figured out. Just come and be seen trying, in a room full of women doing exactly the same thing.

Do these self doubts sound familiar. Have I got the energy? Have I got the time? Will it be too hard? How much commitment does it take? Four questions, in some form or other, that nearly every woman asks herself before she ever starts with us.

Different wording every time, same fear sat underneath. Not “will I like it.” Not even “can I afford it.” Just, quietly, am I actually capable of this at my age, with my life exactly as full as it already is.

Here’s what we’d say back, every single time. It won’t be too hard at all. Everyone starts at their own starting point, and we don’t expect anyone walking through that door to already know what they’re doing, or to be at the same stage as a woman who’s been training with us for years. That’s not what we’re about.

What we’re actually about is you putting yourself first, which most women our age have quietly stopped doing without even noticing it happened. Those four questions are normal, we hear them constantly. They’re just not going to answer themselves from the sofa.

Quick word for anyone after a fiver-a-go PAYG pass where nobody notices if you never turn up again, we’re probably not your gym, and that’s fine. But if you’re the woman who’s ready to actually put herself on the list, properly, keep reading.

Every woman training with us right now asked some version of that same question, or thought it and never said it out loud. The only way any of them found out they could do it was by starting.

If those four questions have been sat in your head for a while, that’s exactly what our 28 Day Kickstart is built to answer.

This is one subject I’ve been reluctant to discuss but I feel like midlife women need to hear this.

Before anyone comes for me, I’m not anti GLP-1. In fact I’m the opposite.

As a woman who used to weigh 28 stone, I know more than most how hard it is.

I’ll support anyone using the jabs to help change their lives, as long as it’s done the right way.

But here’s the bit most women don’t want to hear. If you’re on a GLP-1 and you’re not strength training, you’re not doing it the right way. Not yet, anyway.

Let’s clear up what these jabs are actually for, because half the confusion online is coming from this bit.

GLP-1 drugs are appetite curbers. They keep you in a calorie deficit so you’re not fighting your own hunger every hour of the day.

That’s the job, full stop. They were never built to stop you eating altogether. You’ll have seen the videos, a woman filming her tea, pushing it round the plate for the camera, barely touching it, captioning it something about her jab “working too well.” If that’s you, your dose is too high.

Lower your dose, stop being a dick about it, and eat your tea.

Here’s the bit that actually worries me though.

You’re losing muscle, the stuff that’s actually holding you into those jeans you’ve missed sliding into and could eventually save your life as you get older.

Add proper strength training in and it’s fat that comes off, not the shape you’re trying to keep.

The jab was only ever supposed to be one half of the job. Nobody owes anybody an explanation for using it, that bit’s not up for debate. But the muscle, the bone, the strength you’ll still want at seventy, that bit’s still down to you.

If you’re on a GLP-1, thinking about starting one, or just want to make sure whatever comes off is fat and not the muscle you’ll need in 30 years, pick up the weights and eat your protein.

Or don’t. But if you “have a fall” in 30 years and smash your hip to bits, don’t say I didn’t warn ya!

Be honest with yourself for a minute. How many years did you spend exercising to disappear? Doing cardio till you were p**s wet through, hoping nobody would notice you in the room, at the exact same time you were desperate to be noticed for something.

I lost fourteen stone and I’m dead proud of it, I’ll not pretend otherwise. But I’ve put half of it back on these last few years. Life happened. Perimenopause happened. There’s a version of me that used to think that made me a failure. It doesn’t. It makes me a woman still working on herself, same as every one of you reading this.

Because here’s what nobody tells you about midlife. The stereotype’s already written before you get there. Quiet. Invisible. Fading into the background of your own life. Vivienne Westwood didn’t build a career designing clothes for women to disappear in, and we’re not built to disappear either.

So we lift. Not to get smaller. To get strong enough that the version of us at seventy can still get off the floor without a fuss, still carry her own shopping, still turn up.

That’s the actual shift. Training isn’t punishment for existing anymore. It’s proof we’re still here, still building, still refusing to shrink to fit somebody else’s idea of what a midlife woman is supposed to look like.

If you’re sick of exercising to disappear and fancy training to take up space instead, that’s exactly what our 28 Day Kickstart is built for.

Kara’s been with us almost 2 years, here’s what she said, word for word:

“Who would have ever thought I would be the poster girl on our socials deadlifting 87kg. It doesn’t matter who you are or what your goals are, this place is a safe space to compete against yourself, at your own pace. Signing up made a massive difference to me getting back into routine.”

Read that last bit again. She got her routine back. That’s the actual win, the kilos on the bar are just what happens when you keep turning up and someone’s coaching you properly while you do it.

Nobody in that session is watching Kara’s bar and comparing it to their own. That’s the whole point of how we’ve built this place. You’re not stood next to some twenty year old wearing next to nothing, judging your form, you’re stood next to women exactly where you are, and the only person you’re racing, is who you were last time you walked in.

Fancy finding out what you’re capable of? That’s exactly what our 28 Day Kickstart is for.

DM us, or tag the mate who needs telling she’s stronger than she thinks.

This is for all my single midlife fighters, doing this s**t alone.

The ones eating tea on your own every night. The ones talking to the dog more than another adult (and let’s be honest, the dog’s better company). The ones paying for everything, mortgage, bills, holidays, on one wage, with only your name on it.

The ones whose kidults have left the nest and gone quiet on you. The ones thrown straight into Carenting, parents who need you now the way your kids used to.

And underneath it all, trying to navigate this s**t show called menopause on your own, with nobody to hand the kettle to at 3am.

I know this because I’m living it.

But doing midlife alone doesn’t mean you have to feel alone while you’re doing it. That’s why I built a room full of women at the same stage, same s**tty hormones, who actually notice when you don’t turn up.

If any bit of this is you, that’s exactly why our 28 Day Kickstart exists. Send me a DM, no need to say a word in the comments, this one stays between us.

You don’t have to do this part of life on your own.

It’s 2026 and me and every other midlife coach are still having the same conversation.

Why do women in midlife still need to strength train?

I blame Jane Fonda and her leg warmers, personally.

Our m**s were skipping through a workout on TV-am with Lizzie Webb prancing about between the ironing and putting tea on, whilst we sat cross legged on the carpet thinking that’s what exercise looked like.

Then some of you saw a photo of a female bodybuilder and panicked, convinced one deadlift and a protein shake would have you looking like Arnie’s long lost daughter.

And then there’s Carol.

Carol from your old Slimming Watchers group who told you strength training would pile the weight on 🙄

Here’s the truth, and I’m not being dramatic.

Strength training will save your life.

The minute you hit perimenopause your body starts losing muscle and bone density, whether you like it or not.

So when I’m 70, I want to be able to pick myself back up off the kitchen floor after a wobble, not end up in the back of an ambulance with a broken hip.

I want to walk without a hump and a stick.

I want to still make it to Pub Friday, prosecco and a laugh with the girls, not stuck behind the same four walls because I haven’t got the strength to get out of the chair.

Strength training isn’t optional. It’s the prescription nobody’s giving you.

Take my advice now, you’ll thank me later.

Drop STRONG in the comments and I’ll send you the details.

Let me tell you what you won’t get from us.

Judgment. That’s the big one.

The hot flush mid set, sweating like you’ve just gone a round with Tyson Fury.

Hair that’s given up before 9am. Vest on inside out because you got dressed with your eyes shut, running on four hours sleep and sheer will.

Costa down your top before you’ve even left the Drive Thru.

Not one ounce of judgment given. Not from me, not from the woman next to you. Because she’s had that same day as you.

Nobody’s here with a full face of Charlotte Tilbury and a matching Sweaty Betty 2 piece set, silently judging your leggings.

We’re all knackered, we’re all holding something up, and we all know it.

Tag the woman who’d fit right in, mess and all.
