⭐️⚽️ MATCH REPORT ⚽️⭐️

The girls were back in action today, but it wasn’t our expected league opener, so we once again hosted Dinnington town for the third clash between the two teams this pre season.

As with the last two encounters it was end to end stuff, with both teams showing off their improvements. You could see more game smarts, better positioning and a higher quality level from both sets of players, showing all the training and effort both teams are putting in is paying off.

There were goals a plenty in both nets and by full time neither set of coaches quite knew what the final score was, we could have checked with the referee but ultimately football won today, who cares what the score was! ⚽️

Massive thank you to Dinnington Town for coming over and playing us, we wouldn’t have had a game without you and we look forward to seeing you in a league fixture soon!

Our Player of the match was another tough one, but the coaches decided that Hayley was a deserving recipient!

She put a great shift in, battling as hard as we’ve seen her do so far and scored her first goal for Poggy, quickly followed by her second which was one straight for the highlight reel.

Coach Kieran (her dad) missed it as he was busy helping one of the girls put her goalie top on, but luckily the Veo camera captured everything so he can watch it back later!

Great League opener and Poggy debut for our U15 Whites, well done lads.

⚽ AFC Pogmoor U15 Whites 5–2 Sprotbrough & Cus Crusaders U15 Yellow ⚽

A brilliant way to start the new season with a deserved 5–2 win. 🔴⚪⚫

Bennie was on fire with a fantastic hat-trick, while Kai and Ethan also got themselves on the scoresheet to complete the five.

Tyler had a really good game on the right wing, creating plenty and picking up a few assists.

At the back, George and Aiden shared Man of the Match after bossing the centre-back roles. They were strong, organised and made it really difficult for Sprotbrough to break us down.

Harley really owned the right-back role, while Noah was solid at left-back. Harrison was vocal, confident and did well in goal.

Zack played in several positions and looked competent wherever he was asked to play. Archie used his aggression well and brought plenty of physicality. Harry gave us a composed performance, while Alfie stepped up with some really good passing.

Cohen had a tough battle against a strong centre-back, but kept working and created some great plays and opportunities for others.

A really positive first game of the season. There’s still plenty to work on, but starting with three points and five goals is exactly what we wanted.

Well the season is almost upon us... just checked and we have 25 Poggy games kicking off this weekend, maybe we really are finally a BIG Club!😁
